Ah, no. The coach gave him next to no playing time.
And when he was playing he was very good.

Surprised this hasn't been posted yet. Article by the Mayor on Patrik Bartosak.
Kings Goaltending Readies Next Prospect. Good article and interview.
4 Kings' prospects in action right now on CBS Sports Network. St. Cloud ST. vs. N. Dakota.
I'm watching Hudson Fasching right now on BTN. Minnesota up 3-1. Hudson F. goal and great assist. Gotta find video of his breakaway assist. WOW

watched the game, first time catching a SCSU game this season. i've seen UND a few times though. it was difficult to get some reads on guys in situations due to the score, UND 5-2. Gravel scored late in the 3rd, but UND put this game away in the 2nd.
LaDue - RD (RHS) #6
last week against UMD i think he was the best Dman for the Sioux without question, if not the best player on the ice overall. he was everywhere and instrumental in having the game go through him, he was dictating the flow and momentum.
this game he was very different, much less noticeable. not in a bad way, but he wasn't dictating the game. personally i think it had more to do with him playing a better team and playing a more conservative game.
it was nice to see the flexibility in his ability to adapt to game/opponent.
tonight he played positionally sound and wasn't trying to make things happen the way he did against UMD. he played where he should have and played the percentages.
since he was playing against Gravel, i did notice something though in comparison. LaDue isn't as strong a skater as Gravel, especially in the hips. LaDue is tighter in the hips and his F/B transitions aren't as strong and fluid. there is 3-years difference between the two in terms of development, so this is likely to change.
Dowd - C (RHS) #26
agile skater, not overly quick. good hockey vision sidestepping hits, although i didn't see the same vision used to set up any plays or make passes.
this was not a good game for Dowd imo. repeated defensive breakdowns, which lead to UND goals. he looked lost where he shouldn't be at times. one UND goal he was sandwiched with two SCSU dmen, all three were covering one UND player. very poor D zone reads, but this was one game.
he didn't play much in the 3rd. don't know if he was being held out, or was put at the end of the bench for his play.
he protects the puck well and uses his big frame to gain separation. i didn't see anything this game that would raise an eyebrow when it comes to setup or shooting capability.
from what i saw this game i wasn't impressed, but SCSU didn't respond to the challenge that UND provided. with this in mind as one of the team C's, i felt that Dowd didn't do his job. i felt he didn't do anything to answer the challenge and try get his team on track as a leader.
Brodzinski - LW (RHS) #22
very good at reading where the puck is going to be. he was the first to a lot of loose pucks as a result. very active at both ends to either gain possession or to get open.
active stick, some very good dekes and dangles to gain space room and open lanes. not overly quick skater, but strong lower body and hard to knock off the puck. protects the puck very well with his body and seems to possess a good set of hands on top of this, which gives him two options to protect and beat defenders.
i would rate his skating as well above average. not overly fast at top speed, but has a very good one-two step burst to gain separation. he was excellent off the boards and corners after puck battles to the net as a result. very agile skater, with quick stop-start and turn ability.
likes to play down low, from the dots to the end boards. seems to have no problem going into traffic and gritty areas. initiates contact and doesn't avoid it.
as he matures and gains strength this kid can become a beast down the wing. another protypical LA winger in size, but i think with a higher top end (compared to present day) when it comes to stick handling.
Gravel -LD (LHS) #7
had a goal late from the left point off a one-timer. nothing that is highlight worthy, just a goal.
as mentioned earlier, in comparison to LaDue he is a much stronger skater. Gravel's transitional skating technique is sound, strong and efficient.
he was more dynamic also when it came to setting the pace in the game. he definitely was trying his best to jumpstart SCSU's game with his play. we are talking about comparing a Senior wearing the C and a Freshmen defenseman.
size, the kid is big. needs to fill out his frame though. with his skating and added strength he has the potential to be a very good bruising Dman down the road.
Summary
of the four of them Brodzinski impressed me the most. he was easily the most dynamic SCSU forward in a UND blowout. he was always hunting the puck and trying to create opportunities.
LaDue had a good game. the type of game you want from a good SHD - goes largely unnoticed because the opponent isn't doing anything.
Thanks for your analysis. I saw parts of the game, but I don't have the experience to see what you see. With Dowd and Gravel graduating, I wonder how quickly they'll get used to the AHL game next season.
Sick. Just sick. Can't wait for this kid to wear Black.
The crazy thing about Hudson Fasching is that he doesn't turn 19 until late July. If he were born about a month-and-a-half later, he would be in the upcoming draft.
He's dominating as a freshman at UMinn. I'd like to see the Kings sign him to an ELC after this season, because it would be pretty pointless for him to stay development-wise. You don't want to give him too much too soon, but staying too long isn't great either. Nick Shore stayed another year after his breakout season and his production went down a bit, actually. Not saying that's the case with everyone, but when a guy is ready to make the next step, you take that next step. I hope to see Fasching in Manchester next year.
He has plenty of more development to do, you don't want this guy leaving school to play minor league hockey as a 19 year old. The AHL is a tough league for anyone to jump to, especially a 19 year old, and if he struggles like Kitsyn he ends up stuck in a garbage league. Plus if you sign him earlier it burns years off his ELC when he has no real expectation of making the Kings as a 19, 20 or 21 year old.
If he takes another step and is a dominant player next season for the Gophers then you are more comfortable letting him enter the pro game as a 20 year old.
Having a year as a dominant player goes a long way in helping development, plus with college players they generally develop more physically because they have access to world class facilties and don't play and travel for as many games as junior players.

he's fine at the U of M, no need to rush him. he is at one of the top hockey schools where he will further refine his skills, while physically maturing. Lucia will continue to give him TOI and responsibilities. he will be pushed into PP and PK roles, which will expand his game. most importantly he will likely be given an opportunity to become a team leader, so he will be able work on his leadership skills.
barring major injury, another year or two will not inhibit his growth. LA is fine at RW and there is no reason to rush him based on one season. even though this one season he has played well beyond expectations.
I'm being serious about this...... Will a war with Russia impact Prokhorkin's status? I mean, could he actually defect and come to our side? Will a war with Russia render void any and all relationship between the NHL and KHL?
Discuss!!!
Can't copy tweet from phone, but Bartosak just tweeted it is an honor to officially be part of the Kings. Was he signed?
