Sanheim really is an awesome player, he's exciting to watch and makes such smart and precise plays. And he's really athletic too.

Can't wait for him and Morin to be Flyers

Cousins is doing great, but I worry he'll suffer from the same issues that are keeping Akeson from making it in the NHL. Guess we'll see.

Laughton with a brutal turnover while 3 on 3 in OT leads to GW goal for Hartford. That kid is not himself at the moment. Stolarz had no chance to make the save. Cousins tied it late in the 3rd. He remains on fire and is now 4th in the AHL in scoring.

Was at the game, Laughton truly is off. It's concerning.

3 primaries for Sanheim tonight.

Tied with Golden Boy Joe Hicketts for the league lead among defensemen.

FLYguy3911, is it safe to say Sanheim is an elite prospect at this point?
Yeah. I've thought they for a while now. It only takes a couple games to see this kid just has "it". His feel for the game is remarkable. Some people really think Haydn Fleury is still a better prospect *cough*Pronmon*cough*. NOT EVEN CLOSE. He might not have Fleury's physical tools, but he's playing chess and Fleury's still playing checkers. It's crazy how underrated this kid still is. I guess you have to play in a World Junior before you get some some credit (which he'll tear up if he's there next year).

And he's not just getting cheap points either. These are even strength primary assists. It's scary to think what this kid might be doing if he were a bigger part of Calagry's powerplay. His passing is pinpoint. Just about every pass is on the money. In the wheelhouse. He put two right on a platter tonight that ended up in the back of the net.

I once heard Craig Button call this kid a potential superstar last year during the u18s and thought he was crazy. I'm a believer Craig! :thumbu:

Every time the Flyers draft someone a bit later on Button just starts yelling about how great they are and how he thinks they should have gone much higher.

Hagg, Sanheim etc.

Cousins and all the CHL guys are scoring about as well as we could have hoped for before this season started.

I expected more offense out of Straka and Leier, but yeah, can't complain there. We have some damn good young players coming up.

For where he was drafted, and his production from Junior, I think Leier is right on track. Just my opinion though

Yeah he's fine. It's his first year in pro & he's not going to be a big time scorer at this level anyway. Portland in the WHL is known to inflate players stats over the years so Leier was likely affected by it.

Straka's disappointing but he's also been playing in their bottom six for the majority of the year as well.

I'm still trying to figure out how Sanheim fell that far? I mean right now the kid looks like he should've been a Top 10 pick

He fell because he didn't have a long track record. But I totally agree that he looks great!!! Maybe the steal of the first round.

Its amazing the disparity between Fleury and Sanheim right now. Fleury was a lock to be a top 10 pick all season long and Sanheim came from out of the blue to being a early 2nd rounder to being a mid first.

I don't see how in any redraft Sanheim doesn't go into the top 10, and Fleury in the first round.

I still like fleury a lot but he is not at Sanheim's level right now.

That's the greatest issue with scouting-predicting the future growth of an eighteen year old. Some guys are early maturers like Ekblad. With them what you see is pretty much what you're going to get. Then there are young eighteen year olds like Sanheim who still physically have a way to go. Attempting to project them is a tough thing.
Think back to your schools ninth grade teams. How many of those guys were still stars as seniors. I'd bet that there was a significant change. Now add a few more years of physical development and what do you have?
Years ago, in basketball, the University of Wisconsin signed a set of 6'2" twins to be in their backcourt when they came to UW. during their senior year and into their freshman season at college they grew to be 6'10" and 6'11" respectfully.
