I mean, I'm not used to seeing the Bolts as an Eastern Conference monster. I'm used to seeing the Bolts as the meek and mild Tampa Bay Lightning. I guess if others are saying it it must be true but I wanted us to sneak our way to the top.

So much for that! Jon Cooper can be so modest. God bless Jon Cooper!

I do love being the underdog but I wouldn't mind being a powerhouse like LA, CHI, Boston, etc year after year. Wouldn't mind one bit.

This season needs to start already. I don't think I've ever been so excited.

I wouldn't worry about jinxes guys. We are gonna be what we are gonna be and if its a champion it won't be done quietly. You don't just build a powerhouse and no one realizes it.

Hey guys,

Isles fan here inquiring about Sami Salo. Can you guys tell me a little bit about him at this point in his career? Obviously he's not a top four defenseman at this age and has always been injury prone, but do you think he could be a solid veteran partner for a guy like Griffin Reinhart, or is he done?

Thanks!

I think he could be a solid bottom pairing guy. He played a lot for us last year but he is too slow to play with the best players on the opposing team. If you give him limited minutes and have him be a leader in the locker room, I don't see how he wouldn't be valuable in that capacity. He's still a smart player and was easily one of our best defenders last year but that was our biggest weakness.

Sami's season ended with wrist injury but even after that he said he wants still play. Problem is that he wanted to do it with TB since his daughter is finishing school here. Not sure if he is wanting to move elsewhere at this point of his career. Should do good in bottom pair still though, if partnered with well skating player.

Not mocking the bible but I did this for fun from the verse of Genesis because it's damn true even though this is borderline blasphemy.

"Yea, and Nikolai had lasted for 4 seasons and in his wake begat a goaltender who WAS NOT in his likeness in John Grahame. John Grahame begat Sean Burke, who begat Marc Denis, who begat Johan Holmqvist, who begat Karri Ramo, who begat Mike Smith, who begat Olaf Kolzig who after 8 games begat Karri Ramo again who begat Antero Niittymaki who begat Dan Ellis, who begat Dwayne Roloson, who begat Mathieu Garon, who begat Anders Lindback, who begat Ben Bishop. And so it was for 9 seasons."

Question, what would it take from Buffalo for Connolly? a 2nd? Something around Ruhwdel+2nd for Connolly+3rd?

How many firsts do you have? :sarcasm:

Honestly, I wouldn't move him at this time. His value is at it's lowest so we won't get what he is really worth. If we move him now we may end up looking like how the Isles did after they sold low on Nino.

I agree I would not move bret Connolly at this time. now if the devils called and offered adam larsson I'd take that deal.

Just checking in to say that every time I remember the roster moves made this off season I get this big stupid grin on my face. I don't know if any other franchise is more "injury-ready" than this squad right now.
