The one weakness I see with Canada is the defense. I don't think Bowey is that good and Theodore has been real shakey. Morrissey and Nurse are class though. Morin and Heatherington are me. Hicketts is aight

Canada's D has looked weak. Haven't been tested much tonight, but when they have there's been lots of giveaway's in their own zone

Reinhart's biggest weakness right now by far is his strength, hopefully he has a big offseason because he doesn't have that man strength yet.

I hope he can make some big gains this offseason and have it translate to his skating. Everything else is there.

Yes, he is listed at 190, I wonder if he is like Risto was and is carrying baby fat still. That's pretty heavy for a guy who clearly needs to get stronger.

His skating, and ability to protect the puck should improve as his strength does.

A big summer for him would be huge for the team. I hope he'll put in the effort because as you mentioned he has everything else anyone would want in a player

That I have no idea if Canada is really this good or If Slovak is really this bad. Or some combo of both. But Canada is certainly a lot better than Slovakia.

I'm always amused at the amount of ESP some posters seem to think they have.

Good is a relative term, and it's usually relative to the other good teams. Like the US. Not sure why you think this was some odd stretch.

World Juniors Recap - United States Downs Finland In Shootout Thriller 2-1 - USAHockey.com - Friday, December 26.

Montreal, Quebec - Chase De Leo (La Mirada, California/Portland Winterhawks) scored the decisive goal in the shootout and Thatcher Demko (San Diego, California/Boston College) stopped 28-of-29 shots to propel the United States National Junior Team to a 2-1 victory over Finland in its opening contest of the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championships.

Finland opened the scoring just 1:22 into the game when the puck deflected off the skate of a United States player past Demko at the side of the net. United States evened the game on the power play at 13:54. After Anthony DeAngleo (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania/Sarnia Sting) shot the puck deep into the Finnish zone, Jack Eichel (North Chelmsford, Massachusetts/Boston University) made a nifty play from behind the net, passing it off the end wall to himself and then backhanding a pass out front to a wide open Alex Tuch (Baldwinsville, New York/Boston College) who fired it home from out in front.

Both teams had chances in the final two periods and the five-minute overtime, but neither squad was able to convert. In the shootout, Eichel put the United States ahead, however, Arturi Lehkonen evened the score in bottom of the first round. After a scoreless second round, De Leo went forehand to backhand and snuck the puck between Ville Husso’s pads for the game-winning goal in the top of the third round, while Demko made a glove save on Kasperi Kapenen in the bottom of the third to secure the win.

The United States is back in action on Sunday, December 28 against Germany - 8:05 pm ET Face-Off in Montreal at the Bell Centre. The game can be seen LIVE on the NHL Network and will be streamed LIVE on NHL.com. Follow @USAHockeyScores for in-game updates.

United States Shoots Down Finland - Eichel Strong/Husso Stars For Defending Champs - Friday, December 26 - WorldJunior2015.com

Montreal, Quebec - It was a great goaltending duel for the fans at the Bell Centre. American goalie Thatcher Demko, who was on the roster in Malmo 2014 but did not play, recorded 28 saves through overtime, and stoned Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Kasperi Kapanen in the shootout to clinch the win. "I thought we got better as the game went on," said Demko. "It’s a good starting point, and something we can work forward from."

Finnish netminder Ville Husso made 36 stops through overtime. He somewhat surprisingly got the start over Juuse Saros, who recorded a 1.57 GAA and 94.3 save percentage in six games en route to a tournament all-star berth last year. Husso, the starter for IFK Helsinki, has been a little better than Saros, the number one goalie for HPK Hameenlinna, in Liiga play this season. "[Goalie coach Miikka] Kiprusoff told me that I’d play," said Husso, the 2014 backup. "We talked about it maybe three days ago, but yesterday, they [confirmed] I’d play."

Finland, which defeated Sweden in last year’s final on Rasmus Ristolainen’s overtime goal, is looking to win back-to-back golds for the first time in World Junior history. The Americans are seeking their third gold in six tournaments (2010, 2013).

This may have been posted already, but TSN has full replays of the games posted online for anyone that missed it.

Er... at least, they have the full US game. I can't seem to find the Canada one.

Canada Slaughters Slovaks - Three Goal First Period Sets Ups Hosts Easy Win - Friday, December 26 - WorldJuniors2015.com

Montreal, Quebec - Boxing Day is a big shopping day in Canada, and the hosts gave themselves a nice gift. Robby Fabbri led the way with four points as Canada downed Slovakia 8-0. Fabbri notched two first-period goals and added a couple of assists in the second period. Meanwhile, Nic Petan had a goal and two assists, while Anthony Duclair, Max Domi, Brayden Point, and Jake Virtanen each tallied a goal and an assist. Nick Paul chipped in a single, while Sam Reinhart earned a pair of helpers.

"Getting the first game under the belt always feels good," said Fabbri. "Points are one thing, but the way the team played throughout the whole game, seeing where we’re headed, sticking to our game, it was good to see and good to get the win."

Overall, it was a balanced attack, as eleven different Canadians hit the scoresheet. It was control, it was finesse, and it was also quite methodical. "We had a lot of goal-scorers tonight and that’s what we’re going to need moving forward," said Canadian captain Curtis Lazar.

Exactly. This stuff shouldn't be worrying at all. It happens with everybody, and he works as hard as the next good NHL player. Can't wait until he grows up.

Fabbri Has Four Points As Canada Routs Slovakia In WJHC Opener - The Canadian Press - TSN.ca - Friday, December 26.

Montreal, Quebec - A fine chemistry may be brewing between centre Nic Petan and winger Robby Fabbri at the World Junior Championships. The so-called third liners, playing mainly with Nick Paul on the other wing, piled on the goals as Canada defeated over-matched Slovakia 8-0 to open the tournament on Friday night. Fabbri had two goals and an assist, while Petan had a goal and two helpers to lead the onslaught.

"Points are one thing, but the way the team played the whole game, staying level headed, sticking to our game, it was good to see and good to win the game," said Fabbri, a St. Louis Blues prospect. "I get switched around once in a while, but to play with Nic Petan, he's such a special player. So skilled and he works really hard. It's easy just to feed off him."

Fabbri scored twice and Anthony Duclair had the other as Canada got three goals in a 4:17 span of the first period, then added four more in the second and another in the third while owning the puck and out-shooting Slovakia 34-12. The Canadians will try to keep it going against Germany on Saturday.

"It helps with confidence and stuff like that, but the way we're thinking is that this game's over and done," said Petan. "A game like that, you think it's easy, but you're still working as hard as you can. It isn't like you're taking a step off the gas pedal. You're playing the right way."

Duclair, Max Domi, Jake Virtanen and Brayden Point each had a goal and an assist. Paul also scored, while Sam Reinhart and Madison Bowey had two assists each. Zach Fucale, who was barely tested, got the shutout. Eric Comrie gets the start against Germany.

Crouse looked really solid in that opener. Very heady, would love to see Sabs move up to draft him.

Yeah, Rhino def needs to hit the Test HARD this offseason, get those traps churnin butter. Offseason = HGH + Protein + Gym. If Enzo can look like Arnold in the offseason, Rhino will be even sicker/bigger once he gets going. I wonder if he decided with his family to hold off on using test because he's still so young? would make sense, better to wait..

Denmark has been impressive early this tournament.

And Sweden scores. Cringe at the Denmark player yelling at his teammate over the turnover...

Yeah that was Lars Eller's little brother. Olofsson is playing for those interested. He's #12 I think.
