Michalek is a speedy LW who can score, nothing not to like about that. Conacher is a bit of a wild card. Could be a top 6 guys, or a bottom six energy player, depending on development and consistency. I certainly see him as a career NHL player.

What not to like about Michalek:

1) He's a band-aid boy
2) He's a group 3 after next year

I think that pretty much sums it up

Even better deal

MDZ+Boyle

For

Michalek+Conacher+2013 1st

Some Sens fans were on board. I personally like this deal. Get some youth and especially if Briere is brought in, 3 offensive lines to roll. Conacher can play C despite what some have been saying in this thread and as long as he and Zucc are on different lines I would love this trade

He's really not a capable center, he's 5'7 and a train-wreck defensively.

I'd probably do that, though, their pick is #17 FWIW.

I don't like Michalek or Conacher enough to want to include them.

I would hope there are much better returns than that...

Really warming up to the idea of Bieksa on a pairing with McDonagh. Staal and Girardi re-unite. Moore-Stralman bottom pair. MDZ gets moved in package for Bobby Ryan. Team becomes much better. I'm not sure Ryan plays LW though.

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Ryan-Brassard-Clarkson
Zuccarello-Boyle-Callahan
Powe-Lindberg-Pyatt

Staal-Girardi
McDonagh-Bieksa
Moore-Stralman

Forward corps still major weakness IMO.

1)as far as I know he does play LW
2)I like the idea of Bieksa
3)how are we acquiring him?

What do they move for Bieksa?

Ryan plays both sides but is maddeningly inconsistent and soft. I would rather look for another return for MDZ.

That's a ton of money tied up on RW.

Trade Pyatt + Bourque for McLeod + 4th 13

Asham for 4th 13

Powe for depth forward to help Hartford

Signings:

Briere - 2 years at 2.5 million per season

Clowe - 3 years at 3.5 million

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Clowe-Brassard-Briere
Kreider-Lindberg-Callahan
McLeod-Boyle-Dorsett
Zuccarello

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-MDZ
Moore-Stralman

Hagelin and Callahan will start the year hurt. Briere will miss at minimum 15 games due to injury. Zuccarello will play a lot.

I know people have mentioned Lapierre, but what does everyone think of Chipchura? Feisty 4th liner who can play center or wing.

I hope Moore comes back. Great speed and a very good PKer.

Kevin Bieksa? Love the idea of that....who would we move for him though?

Vancouver would probably want to be clearing cap space due to their poor cap structure. I'd suspect his value should be higher than Zbynek Michalek's. Probably Thomas/Skjei and a 2nd.

I would have no problem with acquiring Bieksa if it takes a prospect + 2nd round pick.

We can use him to replace Del Zotto who we can move for a top 6 winger (Eberle/Yakupov has been mentioned)

Doubt MDZ would be the only decent piece going the other way in a trade for Ryan. Also, you left out Dorsett. Think your lineup would look better with Pyatt-Boyle-Dorsett as the 4th line. Zuc-Lindberg-Cally is a 3rd line I could live with. Also wouldn't touch Clarkson but yeah.

sounds about right, VAN have NO cap flexibility, and there's no other player I could imagine they'd dump for help (cept' poor Ballard of course lol). So they aren't in much of a negotiating position. I'd do Skjei and a 2nd for him any day.

Briere and Clowe on Short term deals sounds really good to me

If those were the only moves made this offseason I honestly wouldn't mind. Sign those vets for depth and go to war with that. Kids break into the line up when injuries inevitably happen.

I could be wrong, but I was not under the impression that Vancouver would consider moving Bieksa. They have a great shortage of RDs.

MDZ does not hold the value to be the centerpiece in a trade for Yakupov. And why would Edmonton trade him just after drafting him? And they would get a better player for Eberle as well.

Well, there have been rumours about a trade MDZ for one of the wingers in Edmonton. Who knows...

Otherwise we can always try to trade Staal to Carolina (where he will go as a FA anyway) for the 7th overall and a forward if we get Bieksa

If Vancouver really wants to clear cap space they start with the 800 lb. gorilla.

Where is Kreider? I'd rather sign Briere on a short term deal instead of Clarkson.

Kreider - Stepan - Nash
Ryan - Brassard - Briere
Hagelin - Lindberg - MZA
Nystrom - Boyle - Dorset

Staal - Girardi
McD - Bieska
Moore - Stralman
Eminger

This is assuming your Thomas and a 2nd for Bieska and MDZ for Ryan deals. Sign Nystrom for the 4th line. I think that would be a great team. Mix of size, skill, defensive awareness and puck moving ability.

I think it's safe to assume that Callahan will be in the line up? :)

Lol I knew I forgot someone! Could not sign Briere but Callahan in his place. If MZA doesn't resign, look at Briere for that spot

That's what I get for posting before my cup of coffee lol.

so could Vancouver and NY hook up on a deal? If Torts wants ohhhh I dunno Boyle?

Thinking the team is pretty similar and they just have AV go with a new style

I mean in G they are set with the King. He's gonna get a big extension. Biron is a good back up and Talbot looks like their cheap young back up next yr which is needed in the cap world

On D they may get balzy and deal say Staal or DZ but I dont think they really have too. McD ,Girardi, Staal, DZ, Moore, Stralman is solid on paper to me. McIlrath shouldnt be too far.

The big question which will be answered real soon is if Richards stays. If he does he could bounce back and well they really need him too. Stepan, Brassard, Boyle, Lindberg and maybe a UFA 4th liner

Kreider should have a bigger role, Zuccarello has earned a spot. One of those guys will be in the top 6. Cally , Nash obviously. Hagelin and Dorsett could work well together on a 3rd line

I bring back Clowe if he takes 2 yrs 8 million. If he wants more yrs then see ya

I dont think Powe or Asham should go anywhere as its good depth. They should move Pyatt though
