would like to see a top 6 lw in here.
dz, miller, 2014 1st for vanek?????
do we do it? does buffalo do it?

Rutherford gave Ruutu $19M 16 months ago. His play? He was hurt for most of the season. Hip surgery. Ruutu always has something with him. Same player. Budget team Carolina will pay Ruutu coming off hip surgery $10M and send him good bye? Carolina knew what they were getting with Ruutu. You're either new here or you're the one who was pushing Jokinen as a replacement for Stepan early in the season. People change their user names all the time. Even when Jokinen was placed on waivers at the deadline, there was no shortage of the Rangers should claim Jokinen posts here. He stinks and Pitt is stuck with $2.1M on their cap next season. Jokinen is another Rutherford guy.

dude what's your problem........I'm new yeah but don't get nasty with me. Jeez. I know Jokinen sucks (except against us that one game of course) and I never wanted him. I NEVER wanted to trade Stepan, not even when he started the season awfully. But that's what the compliance buyout brings, the ability to get out of bad contracts. Like it or not, Ruutu has a VERY bad contract and Rutherford would be wise to cut his losses and buy him out.

I see McBain as a good Dman that has the skillset to succeed, he just didn't have the right environment in Carolina. With Staal or Mcd, he can blossom. He is an excellent skater, still young, has the size, he'd fit pretty nicely with the rest of our d. And yes he can play the point on the PP.
I still suspect McBain would have been traded to the Rangers if Pitkanen didn't get injured at the deadline.
If he doesn't pan out, investing Pyatt for him is a wash.
McLeod, I am not sure about. I prefer Nystrom by a mile.

Buffalo would gladly take that, Vanek has one year left. It's not a bad idea but I'm not comfortable giving up a first two years in a row.

does everyone really think we can get mcbain for pyatt? if so i would def take a shot but wouldnt we have to add a little?

McLeod @ 1.15 or Nystrom @ 1.5-1.8?

If they can move Powe AND add McLeod I would be totally fine with that being the move. Considering McLeod and Dorsett will be PKing in that scenario they should be fine. Although I like Nystrom quite a bit.

Back to Nystrom. I'd take him all day long over Pyatt. Two reasons...Compete level, and Moxy. Nystrom has it, Pyatt doesn't.

Bfuglien is a very interesting name to be in the mix. Big tough guy, offensive potential. Would love to see the battles against the Flyers/Pens etc. Only thng I would question is how would Buff adjust to Manhattan. Guy would probably be firing down street gyros 3 and 4 at a time!

Clowe I really hope returns. Yeah you can argue his speed, and maybe he is less offensive as years past, but I don't think you can question what happened after his acquisition. In the simplest of terms the Rangers put it together after his arrival. Went on a real solid run and it really appeared that they played bigger when he was here. As an individual, maybe he didn't crush it on the scoreboard, but he is one of those "for the greater good of the team" type of players. Contract will tell the story here. Glen is terrible with the checkbook. But, if it's affordable I think it's a no-brainier to bring him back.

Someone mentioned Ruutu. Like the idea as well.

I still cant believe how many people want Clowe back.

I want a player like Clowe used to be, not this current broken down version of Clowe.

Play the young players. Make trades. Stop building the team through free agency. Such a lazy way to build a team. Let's throw $20M at this player. Here's another $10M for a third liner.

Agreed. No huge turnover. Two minor signings (Nystrom, 3rd pair RD). One trade (DZ for a winger). Instill youth. Go get 'em.

Alright, so here is a new daily line-up:

Just for BRB (this is for talking points)

Trades:
Powe + Jean for McLeod + 5th '13

Pyatt + Bourque for McBain

Del Zotto + Boyle for Pajaarvi + EDM 1st '13

Signings:
Nystrom - 3 years @ 1.5 million/season
Eminger - 1 year @ .8 million
Gordon - 2 years @ 1.5 million/season

Kreider-Stepan-Nash
Hagelin-Brassard-Callahan
Paajarvi-Lindberg/Miller-Dorsett
Nystrom-Gordon-McLeod
Asham, Zuccarello

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-McBain
Moore-Stralman
Eminger

You have to remember, Hagelin and Callahan will most likely start the season on IR. Zuccarello will play.

Size and speed on the wings. Puck-mover on defense with McBain and Moore.

Team still looks ugly but no matter what happens, the sum of their parts will have to be greater than the individuals.

still not exactly what clowe has proved to have alot left like people think?? He's slow now, can't score, and was off the ice more than on for us. / pass unless he c wants a 1 yr deal or something

Sorry the Time is now to Field a Stanley Cup team.
We don't have any true Veteran Leadership, as Richards has failed and should be bought out.
Fix the Powerplay and bring in an ex captain and Finisher Like Iginla and/or Byfuglien.

I'm not keen on going halfway with a split between a disappointing Paajarvi and a 7th pick that their GM can't wait to be rid of.

If we're trading, it needs to be for a sure thing at forward. Not Sjostrom 2.0.

How many more decades is it going to take for Ranger fans to realize that "bringing in veteran leadership" usually fails here?

He is on the same trajectory as Kreider. Same age. Another big player who can fly up and down the wing. He was on pace for ~18 goals this season as a 21-22 year old on a terrible Edmonton team where he was buried on the depth chart.

I still think he has high potential.

Who is getting nasty? I have no problem. Go look at your response to me regarding Jokinen. You took exception to a comment I made which even wasn't directed to you. Carolina gave Ruutu $19M. The lockout happens. Ruutu has hip surgery. He misses most of the season. Now according to you its a bad contract. Ruutu completed one year. There is not cap recapture issue regarding Ruutu. Compliance and ordinary course buyouts have the same formula. If Carolina did buy Ruutu out,why wouldn't they just buy him out as a regular buyout and have it count against the cap? Helps them reach the floor. The compliance buyouts are for the rich teams to buy out players and then spend that money on other players to reach the upper limit. Carolina is a budget team.
