Even if the org was considering trading Staal (which I don't believe is the case for a second) his value is diminished right now due to injury.
I don't see the Jets trading us Burmistrov/Bogosian. Ugh, it'd be awesome to have Bogo though...
Edit: Though I guess Burmi's value is lower because he's in the open with wanting out in the Peg.

Clowe said he loved being a Ranger. Hopes to return. Open to negotiating to find a way to stay. "We'll see what happens."

Where are the Rangers acquiring this righty shot from? Who can QB the PP or has a big shot and can play in the top 4. Someone who doesn't have a crazy contract or requires a crazy contract or isn't near 40. McBain? Christian Thomas for McBain. Rutherford likes the Ontario boys. CHL. OHL. McBain isn't a top 4 D but he gives the Rangers more depth and is a righty. McBain is in the Carolina dog house every month.
So, just to summarize, here's what's been discussed so far:
Nail Yakupov: Would be fantastic to get him, but is most definitely a pipe dream.
Bobby Ryan: A good goal-scoring forward, but I'd be more interested in the next 2 options...
Tomas Vanek: Solid player, 41 points in 38 games this year. Plays LW.
Loui Eriksson: My favorite option; LW/RW who is young and can put up points.
Alexander Burmistrov: 2nd best option. Another young forward.
Of these players, who is really available?
Another missive from Pat:

The + would have to be pretty significant.you think MDZ+ could be traded for Burm and big buff? i think burm can help the center position out and wing.. and buff well we all know what he brings.. toughness from the back end and a PP dman.. with that crazy hard shot he has..
I have heard Matt Hendricks from multiple sources but the player who would fit VERY well in their system is Eric Nystrom. He is the perfect 4th liner in the same mold as Gregory Campbell who just helped down the Rangers. Great skater. Great PKer. Will fight. Has some offense in him. Can play center.
Curtis Glencross is another name we all heard around the deadline. Another player who would fit the Ranger 'mold'. Not sure what it would cost.
Eriksson would be the ideal target as he is the most sure fire top6 LWer. He would push either Kreider or Hagelin down.
MDZ to Dallas for Eriksson.
Buyout Richards.
Trade Pyatt and Powe.
Sign Nystrom and Murray. The team is now 4 lines deep.
Eriksson-Brassard-Nash
Kreider-Stepan-Callahan
Hagelin-Lindberg/Miller-Dorsett
Nystrom-Boyle-Asham/Haley
McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-Stralman
Moore-Murray
Eminger
If Staal does not want to re-sign this off-season, trade him instead of MDZ.
Staal for McBain and Skinner or Staal for Ryan. Skinner or Ryan replace Eriksson above. Maybe Dallas adds to Eriksson for Staal as well.
A dman needs to be moved, they need offense.
Where is Zuke?
I am actually going through some scenarios and I also have problems fitting Zuke in. Even worse, I can't fit Hagelin either![]()
I have problems with MZA because he isn't quite a top 6 forward and this teams bottom-6 with a rookie 3rd or 4th line center and the need to supplement toughness and grit due to the soft nature of the top-6.
Kreider's done absolutely nothing to warrant a top 6 roster spot, let alone take one away from Zuccarello, one of the most consistent forward for the team since his arrival.
Ok. So what about Hagelin? Switch those 2. I had it my way because I wouldn't put Kreider with a rookie center. Hagelin is the better defensive forward. Kreider adds size and speed.
