2013 NHL Entry Draft part II - Round 2

Still digesting the Draft......out of curiosity I looked up what the age difference was between Weber/Jones and another prominent blueline duo who typically weren't on the same pairing:

Weber/Jones: 9 years, 2 months
Stevens/Niedermayer: 9 years, 4 months

Is Weber/Jones a guaranteed pairing? I thought Preds fans loved Josi with Weber.

I'd expect them to be separated, although I would think they'd give Jones some sheltered minutes to start anyways. Nashville seems to be drowning in RH D now. I think I saw a rumor of them shipping out 2007 1st rounder Jon Blum to Ottawa for Colin Greening. And then there's Ryan Ellis who seems to be in limbo.

Moron Duthie first said we were chanting "Crosby's Better".

At least he corrected himself 5 hours after the fact.

In his defense, Duthie was probably still hungover. I'm pretty sure Dreger was screaming "LUONGO HAS NOT BEEN TRADED" out of a limo all night as well.

Dreger was all over the oilers yesterday "I am at the Oilers table, and they are not happy!"

Weber with Jones is going to be very very scary in a few years.

I plan the reap the rewards in fantasy.

Nashville got a massive steal yesterday. Jones is going to be a very special player. Arguable for the Avs, but Florida and Tampa are going to be kicking themselves for not taking him.

I did like the shoutout that Larsson got when Jones fell to four, they were drawing parallels to his drop and it gave me the warm fuzzies.

Wennberg and Barkov are the best.

Lindholm's hand at the bottom looks like it's not part of his body, as if it's photoshopped in from a horror movie where hands come out of nowhere.

I talked with Lindholm and Wennberg for a while after the draft. Two quality individuals. Had a smile on their face the whole time and were happy to interact with the fans. I love Lindholm's game, can't wait to see him come over...

New Jersey Devils 2013 draft review

As the hosts of the 2013 NHL Draft, the New Jersey Devils opened with a bang and closed on a touching note. With the team on the clock for their first round selection, Commissioner Gary Bettman arrived to the podium to announce that New Jersey had traded their first round pick to the Vancouver Canucks for goaltender Cory Schneider.

But the Devils were not done. In the second round, they dropped from 39th to 42nd, while gaining Phoenix's 73rd pick in the third round. They also held the 100th and 160th picks in the fourth and sixth rounds.… read more

The so-called "hate" is mainly based on the Kings players and their fairweather fans. We just unfairly lump him in with the rest.

After doing such a "solid" for Marty here, there's no way ANY DEVILS FAN can ever talk crap about this man again.

Their Franchise and Fans, though? That's a totally different kettle of fish....

How can you tell which Kings fans are fairweather fans from a HF post(s)??

... and why would a fairweather fan even post anything?

Don't worry though, I think most Kings fans still like the Devils...

I forget who it was, but wasn't there a story about a teenaged Brendan Shanahan approaching one of his favorite players for an autograph and he got rebuffed. Then like three years later, Shanny's in the NHL. In their first game against each other, Shanahan runs the guy, drops the gloves, and pummels him. The player was like "What did I do?" And one of the refs tells him "He said you wouldn't give him an autograph a couple years ago."

This is why I always give an autograph when asked. Even if it is some little twerp. He might have some huge relative that is willing to pummel.
