2013 NHL Entry Draft part II - Round 2

That's a Dr. McMullen thang. Lou just keeps it going as a tribute to him.

no i know, and its still tarded. i mean 13 is taboo...but a jersey devil is good to go? i wonder how he feels about the mothman or the chupacabra? or the chupacabra mothmen (they mated with the chupacabras.)

as long as it's not that slimy starfish thing at the end of prometheus - if it can snack on super humanoid blue dude and spit him out like a olive pit full of alien spawn - I want nothing to do with it. Come to think of it, I think that had like 13 tentacles around the jaws. It's a sign. 13 = stay away

the Rangers "around the league" thread is just page upon page of Devil bashing XD

How can this be? According to their board, we obsess over the Rangers constantly and our entire existence revolves around being their rival. I thought they were far too above us in their 'most famous arena' to acknowledge much less care about our petty transactions :sarcasm:

Tell you one thing, I couldnt name you a single guy the Rangers drafted this year. but I bet they can tell you who we took. Schneider was the headline of the draft and we bagged a prospect they covet in Bell. they took a GMs son or something I think?

I know they took Buchnevich. Thats all

Perhaps a mod can enlighten me, reading through their 'Around the NHL' thread and noticing regular use of creative terms like 'Debbies' and 'Fatso.' Ha, stay classy New York. Do not see our corresponding nicknames for their team and goalie much on this board - I seem to remember reading awhile back that is frowned upon here.

I saw it mentioned once that a mod would infract one for using the term Rags on their board without warning. I don't post there often, and am civil, trying to use NYR only, but I used to use Rags as just shorthand on other boards a looong time ago... It just seemed like a natural abbreviation without thinking through the thoughts of the extremely sensitive, but by all means, they should keep up the Debs talk

they can say what they want on their board

we can say what we want on our board

Our posters regularly use the terms Rags, Queen, Lundpads, etc. That would be a no-no on their board just as using Debbies, Fatso, etc. here would be a no-no.

Home board = home rules.

Gotcha, thanks. I probably don't notice it as much here since the bolded are just such natural and fitting descriptions.

On a side note, there was a pretty big CHL contingent at the draft. I was sitting behind either Horvat's extended family or biggest fan club because they exploded when Vancouver took him at 9.

In the section next to me there was a big group Val-D'-OR fans and also cheered loudly when Mantha was picked by the Red Wings.

Haven't mentioned yet how great the crowd was yesterday. Tons of energy in the building. It was fun to be a part of. Impressed that that picked up on the TV feed, as well.

Nurse is quite the little *****. We saw him outside the rock and he was walking with just his family, no one around, and we tried to get a picture of him real quick and he goes 'I don't have time for you'. Wow, real professional you little turd. Hope his career is a stinker for the way he has an attitude.

Yeah, it's an oddly exciting feeling to be seating near a prospect's entourage when he's selected. I was (unknowingly) sitting among Philip Danault's family in 2011 and it was instant chaos when he was picked by Chicago at #26. I barely knew anything about Danault, but there I was excitedly clapping like a trained seal.

Heck, there's almost a Price Is Right type commotion. COME ON DOWN!

I'm sure he's had a long few days. Approaching prospects for pics/autographs should always have a level of caution. I actually liked the separation of the two days in the previous drafts in this regard. The guys that went in the first round would be much more relaxed by Day 2 and probably be more open to be approached.

I didn't get many pictures with prospects, but I did have quick "Congratulations, good luck next season at (insert team here)" if they were walking by. I think the only picture with a prospect I have was with Adam Larsson and that was on Day 2.

---------------

I forget who it was, but wasn't there a story about a teenaged Brendan Shanahan approaching one of his favorite players for an autograph and he got rebuffed. Then like three years later, Shanny's in the NHL. In their first game against each other, Shanahan runs the guy, drops the gloves, and pummels him. The player was like "What did I do?" And one of the refs tells him "He said you wouldn't give him an autograph a couple years ago."

I kept seeing Nurse around the arena and literally every second I saw him, he was signing autographs for little kids.

I'm willing to bet this is a completely untrue myth, but I am going to believe it actually happened until the day I die.

Shanahan's talked about it in interviews. He also made a point of the fact that when Rick Vaive's son (Rick Vaive was the guy he attacked) asked him for an autograph, he gave it to him and gave him a piggy-back ride to boot, in order to ensure the cycle was broken.
