Let's all take a breath, wipe our feet, and leave the baggage in the car for now. It's been a long ride.
And continue...
Starting this right now
Can we all agree to not talk about what we did last thread. Just let it go.
How about that Jagr character? Seems like a great guy
Anyone think Loktionov can score 20 goals?
Or if he is better than Zajac?
Lol...Don't ban me.
So how does everybody think Larsson is gonna do this year?
Thought this would be fun to talk about.
So Marty gets the opener against the Penguins in Pittsburgh obviously. That's like 19 straight starts on opening night for the same team.
Does Schneider get the home opener the very next night though? Marty has started every home opener too since 94-95. At the same time it's a back to back and it's a good time for the fans to see Schneider in a real game with the Devils for the first time.
Last year we were supposed to open with a back to back also on the original schedule.

He needs to be on the pp all ****ing year long. Enough holding him back. He can dish as well as patty can, and his shot is great for deflections.

my guess is Marty gets both starts actually.
Yeah Marty usually looks like hell to start the season too. He didn't this last year though. He was pretty damn good until injury. I'm wondering if that had something to do with him being in January shape, despite not having real competition the few months prior. I think these guys were skating and having practices amongs themselves during the lockout.I was thinking about that the other day, and I can see Schneider starting in Pitt and Marty starting the home opener. I just don't see them starting Marty two nights in a row. Against some fairly good teams too.
I don't think he will start 80%. I'm planning two short trips around Thanksgiving and then Christmas. 2 years ago I made a random weekend trip to see a Devils game at home. It was after both the Florida trips, and I thought it could be my last time ever seeing Marty. It was the Marty St Louis hat trick against Tampa Bay, and I was thinking they would start Moose cause we played the Rangers the next night. It was the best weekend for my buddy to be able to come up with me, and Marty wound up starting. It was the only time he started back to backs in 11-12.I honestly think Marty will play the vast majority of our home games (maybe 80%? More?) I think Marty is done after this year and everyone in the organization knows it. So they'll milk it for all it's worth.
Now if we're in a tight playoff race and Marty is blowing it that might put a damper on those plans but if Marty is a little more than serviceable I can see him playing most of the home games and staying home on some long road trips.

For me, that'd be a pretty bad sign. I love Marty but the Devils should be concerned with winning games, not continuing Marty's records. Marty should only start games where his starting is logical right now, not with an eye on the past.
