Let's all take a breath, wipe our feet, and leave the baggage in the car for now. It's been a long ride.

And continue...

Let's all just take a deep breath, and fast forward the video to 11:00 and enjoy. Let's remember we're all Devils fans here aight?

Anyone think Loktionov can score 20 goals?
Or if he is better than Zajac?

Lol...Don't ban me.

Thought this would be fun to talk about.

So Marty gets the opener against the Penguins in Pittsburgh obviously. That's like 19 straight starts on opening night for the same team.

Does Schneider get the home opener the very next night though? Marty has started every home opener too since 94-95. At the same time it's a back to back and it's a good time for the fans to see Schneider in a real game with the Devils for the first time.

Last year we were supposed to open with a back to back also on the original schedule. Second game would have been a home game too.

He certainty has MUCH more potential. Zajac is peaked IMO. A solid #2 center, while Loktionov has star potential.

I was thinking about that the other day, and I can see Schneider starting in Pitt and Marty starting the home opener. I just don't see them starting Marty two nights in a row. Against some fairly good teams too.

I honestly think Marty will play the vast majority of our home games (maybe 80%? More?) I think Marty is done after this year and everyone in the organization knows it. So they'll milk it for all it's worth.

Now if we're in a tight playoff race and Marty is blowing it that might put a damper on those plans but if Marty is a little more than serviceable I can see him playing most of the home games and staying home on some long road trips.

my guess is Marty gets both starts actually.

He needs to be on the pp all ****ing year long. Enough holding him back. He can dish as well as patty can, and his shot is great for deflections.

I agree. Pete needs to let Larsson loose. Only way he will develop properly.

I don't think so just because Schneider will have plenty of home openers (hopefully)

it being most likely brodeurs last he will probably get it.

there are a few games marty will play just because it is marty and his last year. i wonder how the outdoor game will be handled if marty reall ***** the bed this year and Schneider steps up. will they give it too marty just to give him the one last chance at an outdoor game or not even care about emotions.

i think that is up for more of a debate

So how does everybody think Larsson is gonna do this year?

With the departure of Tallinder, there's about negative chances that we'll scratch Larsson and that's the best news I've heard all summer.

Now, if we can let him loose a bit and see what he can do without freaking when he'll commit his 1st turnover, he should be taking that "next step" in his game.

From the quotes we got from Lou, one would assume that he has every intention of adding one of our youngsters (Gélinas, Urbom or Merrill... Severson is a long shot) as well, wich is only good news regarding Adam cause there's one less veteran around to take his spot and that might boost Adam's confidence even more, knowing he has a clear path ahead of him instead of being cautious with the puck in fear of getting benched.

For me, that'd be a pretty bad sign. I love Marty but the Devils should be concerned with winning games, not continuing Marty's records. Marty should only start games where his starting is logical right now, not with an eye on the past.

Yeah Marty usually looks like hell to start the season too. He didn't this last year though. He was pretty damn good until injury. I'm wondering if that had something to do with him being in January shape, despite not having real competition the few months prior. I think these guys were skating and having practices amongs themselves during the lockout.

I don't think he will start 80%. I'm planning two short trips around Thanksgiving and then Christmas. 2 years ago I made a random weekend trip to see a Devils game at home. It was after both the Florida trips, and I thought it could be my last time ever seeing Marty. It was the Marty St Louis hat trick against Tampa Bay, and I was thinking they would start Moose cause we played the Rangers the next night. It was the best weekend for my buddy to be able to come up with me, and Marty wound up starting. It was the only time he started back to backs in 11-12.

I wanna do another random weekend. I think the Florida trip is in March, and those are back to back games.

He really is a smart player. Wish he would shoot with more authority though. I think we're in a very interesting spot where we have a lot of young guys with a lot of potential and older guys at the latter stages of their careers.

So do we stick Adam in there all year if we're winning and he's struggling a bit? If we're losing I imagine no one will care at that point and we'd sell some pieces too.

Adam is still really young too.

The guy had the entire summer to "rest", so starting back-to-back games of game #1 and #2 of the regular season won't jeopardise anything in terms of pts in the standings or Marty's health.
