Henrique - Weiss - Kovalchuk
Elias - Zajac - Ryder
Stalberg - Loktionov - Zubrus
Carter - Josefson - Bernier

DEPTH

If Clarkson walks and we can only sign one guy, we've made no progress. Sign two, and we're still not where we were with Parise. Sign (or trade for) three, and we've created solid depth throughout the lineup.

Weiss would be our #1 or 1b center

also Zajac and Kovalchuk just dont have chemistry. I would like to see Elias-Zajac though.

Why do we need another forward to force Gio to wing when Carter should of been centering that line all season? I never understood why Carter was playing wing and Gio playing center.

Well, if PDB does that, I'm fine with that provided that Carter does well on face-offs. Honestly, I don't how he is on the dot when given a good amount of chances.

I just think instead of throwing money at Horton or Clowe, give Gendry a shot at it first and save some dough. I think he can fill that role. CBGB can reunite once in a while when needed but they shouldn't be over used again this season and Bernier showed enough offense and jam to be on the third line.

From this I think it's best to put Loki with Kovy, their defense is bad but I think if they keep on having high possession stats their GA20 would decrease.

Zajac is good with Kovy too. But for best offensive output its with Loktionov.

If we were going to use this list, Zajac with Kovy did the best. Lokti had a positive goal differential without Kovy and a negative one with him. Zajac had a positive goal differential with Kovy and a negative one without him.

I expect a strong push tonight to wrap up Elias' contract before Walsh's phone starts ringing in about 3 hours

Everyone saying that everything is done, just gotta finish some little details. In that case, Elias wont even talk to other teams. But I want it done soon aswell

Zajac and Kovalchuk have literally no chemistry.

According to the numbers, they always should

0.581 GF20 vs 0.083 GA20 would suggest Kovy and Zajac should ALWAYS be together

Know I'm late as hell, but everybody in the business of hockey knows that Lou does not like to talk contracts, trades, moves or any type of negotiations really at any point until they are confirmed with the league

With the amount of accolades the sport has given him throughout multiple different leagues, the things he has accomplished, and most importantly the respect he has earned and is given by all involved in the league, Clarkson's agent was out of line and disrespected Lou's integrity

You are an agent, just like Tiger's old caddy, shut up and do your job, we shouldn't know who you are unless you are mentioned in acquaintance to the player you represent

Wildly inconsistent?

2007 - 82 games, 62 points - 0.76 ppg
2008 - 82 games, 62 points - 0.76 ppg
2009 - 67 games, 45 points - 0.68 ppg
2010 - 65 games, 57 points - 0.87 ppg
2011 - 80 games, 53 points - 0.67 ppg
2012 - 46 games, 32 points - 0.70 ppg
2013 - 43 games, 22 points - 0.51 ppg

This guy is practically the model of consistency. He's good for 20-25 goals and 30-35 assists every single year, while being a complete boss in the playoffs. I give him and every player a pass this season, and even then, he put up 19 points in 22 playoff games.

Game to game. He scores in bunches and then goes invisible for weeks at a time.

Exactly that, it was disrespectful. If that is his way of trying to get Lou to up his offer then well it wasn't a smart move.

What's the deal with most people putting Henrique at wing?

It seems to me he played worst at wing last season compared when he played center.

Also I think he only played wing a lot last season because of his injured hand with regards to taking faceoffs.

If we don't get a Weiss or Ribiero in free agency, then Henrique needs to play center imo.

Zajac is obviously going to be 1 center. Loktionov apparently doesnt want to or cannot play wing, so he has to be another one. but I hate having him there simply because he cant win a faceoff. Elias has basically said he likes playing center more nowadays. plus if we sign another center, it just leaves too many guys there.

I think Henrique's game translates to the wing better than anyone of the other candidates.

If Boucher is on our first line, we are in either HUGE trouble, or he is fantastic. More likely that we are in HUGE trouble

Boucher would need to lead the Devils in preseason scoring to get a spot on the opening night lineup.

Even still that might not be enough. Huberdeau lead the Panthers in preseason scoring two seasons ago and they still sent him back to the junior so that he can gain strength/work on his game/etc despite their dire need for scoring help.

Because if JJ makes the team we wil have 4 centers that all should be playing in the top 9. We have no wingers and Henrique is the most talented so you move him to wing as Loki and Zajac will definitely play center.

If you prefer you could move JJ to wing instead.

Add Weiss Henrique pretty much has to play wing or you would be pushing Loki and JJ into the 4th line which is a total waste.

which makes me wonder why without Kovy Zajac's possessions stats went up but the GA20 went considerably higher.

Coincidence, sample sizes. Zajac was on a crazy streak to start the season when he was with Kovy. Wasn't on the ice for a goal against in our first 14 games or something. Then he regressed back to a normal rate, and it just happened to be when Kovy was off his line.
