I don't think looking at raw point totals does Clowe justice on the offensive end. Clowe is smarter, better, and more skilled on that end then Clarkson.

Clarkson is a more skilled player than Clowe. Clarkson's hands are superior. No doubt. Clowe is bigger and plays a more physical game though.

We're not going to use a compliance buyout on a guy who only has one year of his contract left.

I don't think so either, just don't think management would absorb money and cut ties with Volchenkov or Salvador this year. So Tallinder is really the only other target for cap space.

But it looks like we're in ok shape with just under 21 mil in space for 3 top six forwards and 2 bottom 6ers.

Sounds to me like Lou already has an idea of what they plan to do for the offense and at forward.

We'll see how that plays out. I'd be shocked if the Devils don't add a forward or two on Friday/Saturday, especially if Clarkson leaves.

Ya, but who knows how the market pans out? This seems really risky unless Lou is prepared to spend stupid money in UFA. And there is a reason why we call stupid money stupid.

I agree, and all his words today as well as the ballsy move really makes it seem like he has a plan with the free agents on the market. Whether its Vinny, Briere, Weiss, IDK.

Imagine he has to be confident about Elias returning, Henrique getting locked up, and maybe even Clarkson. Who knows.

Haha, either way that was hilarious.

I'm not sure if any other organization does these sorts of things for family members. From our incessant signings of younger brothers to our AHL squads to allowing Marty to draft his son.. it's not hard to see why many players enjoy playing here. Pure, pure class.

Ya should definitely be Zubs. Maybe Harrold but that isn't a huge announcement. Could be and I really hope Elias so that is done, could be a curve ball or two. Zids, maybe even a REAL long shot and Clarkson (doubtful, but then so was Sciender haha)

I don't see anyone taking a 37 year old defensemen especially with 2 years left on his deal. Damn that contract sucks something fierce. Tallinder has the most value out of all the veterans back there but yea he can actually still play at a somewhat high level so you might wanna hold onto him. Volchenkov's contract is an abortion as well but given the right situation he could probably still play solid 3rd pairing minutes since he's not even old yet. I'd probably move Salvador if I had a choice.
