The more you truly understand about the game of hockey, the more likely you want Zubrus back.

More people I feel want Healtey just for the hope that Kovy scores at the pace he did in Atl. Its not gonna happen, and unless its really cheap I wouldnt want Heatley. I wanted him come trade deadline, but after watching him more and more, man is he slow

Agreed 100%. Stalberg and Zubie on the same Line would be just a puck possession beast of a line

We need finishers plain and simple, I have 3 players in mind

1) Trade for Matt Frattin
- plays a surprisingly strong puck possession game, is quick, and is very strong on his skates.

2) Trade for Drew Stafford
- I know I know, he is too streaky, but he is a legit top 6 winger that plays a strong 2 way game and is good around the net. I think it would be a natural fit

3) Sign Nathan Horton
- very productive over the last few years and one of the best offensive players on the FA market

I honestly don't think we are too far off, we outplayed opponents on a pretty consistent basis, but when Clarktard is your top goal scorer for the year you know there are issues.

Big no thanks to Stafford. The #1 guy I want in FA is Stalberg. Horton is a close #2

This is true, but I just wish he was on the 3rd line all the time instead of top 6 minutes. He is one of the better 3rd liners in the game, it's where I like him best

Imagine a 3rd line or ?????-Zubrus-Clarkson. Easily the best in the league, especially if we get my dream signing (Stalberg)

Zubrus and Clarkson are both above average 3rd liners. Dont belong in the top 6

Stalberg is a terrible finisher, with stonehands. I like his speed but that is about it.

Great speed, great puck possession. Big body, very strong on the forecheck. Perfect fit for our system. And he is not awful at finishing, he isnt great, but awful is going a bit far

Ya but damn that is one expensive 3rd line, which is why I like Frattin

Frattin- xxxx-Zubrus

I like Clarkson, but for how much he wants I can be ok letting him go

Ya, I guess it says a lot about the free agent class when he is one of the top players.....:shakehead

We just need finishers and there aren't many of them out there. Hell Vanek is sounding mighty nice right now even if it is only for 1 year.

Hawks fans are on record saying that Stalberg's "stone hands" have improved drastically of late.

He really is a second coming of Zubrus. A third line featuring Zubrus and Stalberg would be wow.

Won't agree with that, his shooting % dropped to below 9% again this year. I guess I am just not told on the guy nearly as much as everyone else is for some odd reason.

Drew Stafford is the single most inconsistent player in the NHL. Don't want him at all.

Eh, I think "hands" are tough to be measured by any stat, let alone shooting percentage.

I don't watch the guy every night--but the Hawks fans that do say that his game has taken a noticeable change for the better.

Sabres fans railed him hard pretty much all year and even at times the last year or two.

If the choice was either Stafford or Clarkson, I'd rather just have Clarkson back if the money was equal and the term on Clarkson wasn't too ridiculous. Better to deal with the inconsistency in a player you know than the player you don't.

Plus, I really suspect that Stafford could quite possibly end up trying to join his best buds Parise/Suter in Minny in another two years or even sooner if Pominville doesn't re-sign there next offseason.

ok, count me in on the stalberg band wagon. not exactly what i think we need but i'll take speed any way we can get it.

if he's the only improvement we make, though, we're in trouble

though a kovy-lokti-stalberg line might not be half bad.

like it alot. I still wanna see what Dags can do with training time but those lines look real nice. anyone who thinks Lou would actually do something we want is unlikely though lol

I have moved on from Josefson, put the 4th line back together and I do like this lineup. I do find it hard to think that Horton would leave the Bruins for the Devils though, wish he would though

Agreed would prob be something like this really

Henrique - Lokti - Kovy
Elias - Zajac - Clarkson
Stalberg - Zubrus - Dags
Carter - Josefson - Bernier
Rest

I can understand but i saw something in Josefson in the last games he played that i liked. Him and Gionta can battle it out for that spot if needed. But i sure have not given up on him yet.

Horton leaving would be a Bruins decision more then a Horton decision but i see what you mean about him not leaving

As much as I'd like to sign him, I hope Stalberg won't be the biggest name Lou brings here. Sign or trade for him but let's get a winger that might regularly produce against a tough competition.

I put it at a 0% chance that we keep our 3 biggest free agents AND sign the two most prolific ones.

My biggest concern is that Lou looks at the record we had with a fully healthy and thinks he can return the same team will be fine. Now i believe this is the WORST case scenario but always good to look at everything fully.

Agreed fun to think about!!!
