I think 5 goals from each of the fourth liners is a bit of a reach, but all in all those projections look reasonable.

I suspect we'll score half the PK goals next year. Hopefully our PP can pick up the slack.

I think we can get 15 goals if they play 10+ mins a game (over 82 games). They all will most likely not get 5 each, but someone may get 10 the and someone might get 3 and the other 2.

I think the area I'll miss him most is the PK. Him and Henrique together on the kill was great.

I believe that if there is 1 spot we wont see a drop in with the lose of Parise its the PK.

I feel like the Devils always have a roster full of good PK forwards year in and year out. If Kovy steps into that role well he can be out there with Henrique or Zajac and we might see a good amount of short handed goals.

Just looking over the roster for the PK:

Zajac
Henrique
Josefson
Elias
Zubrus
Kovy
Carter
Darche (If he makes the team)

Then a couple question marks
Gio
Clarkson

From TG
“It was definitely disappointing losing a great teammate and a close friend, but it’s an opportunity where he gets a chance to play at home in front of his family and friends and it’s a new chapter in his life,” said Zajac, who can become an unrestricted free agent at season’s end.

Goner.

Goner.

Any UFA is a goner if the Devils don't offer market value. These players can live anywhere they want after their hockey career is over. They need to get the most bang for the buck.

For Zajac - outside of Devils the Hockey Media underrates him tremendously. Parise was overrated and therefore got a ridiculous offer from the Wild.

Lou would have to negotiate and get it done during the season. But with less than seven months until free agency, I don't know how open Zajac would be to that. If he just wants to play in Winnipeg, he will. In that case, market value will be much less of a factor.

If Zajac does end up elsewhere... We better go "all out" on Getzlaf. I'd give him a offer that would blow his brains.

He'd be worth every penny and then some.

Does our owner have money yet? Sole owner aside, I could care less if he still can't spend up to and possibly past the cap.

I would need new pants if we got either Perry or Getzlaf.

We are reading way too much into that quote. Ive gotten to the point that I expect our big FA's to leave every year, but this quote means nothing.

Even Elias said to the media that he's happy the ownership situation finally got sorted out so I guess that means it's all good?

Lou can let Clarkson, Zajac, and Zidlicky walk... and go balls deep in Perry and Getlaf. That's A-OK with me!

Ya I don't expect Zajac to stay this offseason.

If Lou waits until the season is over to negotiate, this is going to be a problem moving forward.

At this point I don't care about players leaving. Mostly because worrying about something like that is pointless, but also because we've seen this happen numerous times (Holik, Mogilny, Niedermayer, Gomez, Rafalski, now Parise), and everything has worked out.

Good luck with that, we've outbid the world for exactly one big ticket FA in Lou's tenure and it cost us a fine and two high picks.

If we lose Zajac, we aren't getting any Getzlaf or Perry to replace him.

But seriously, I actually expect Zajac to stay. I feel better about him than I ever did about Parise.

But I can't have nice things so he's going to leave.

I have the exact same feeling... but eventually, it'll come back to bite us in the ass IMO. We had solid prospects on the horizon and that's how we managed to survive despite losing all that talent. I don't know if we have that same "safety net" then in years past if we do lose our #1 center this time around.

If we do end up losing Zajac, Lou needs to re-think his way of handling pending UFA's. We can't lose talent like we've seen over the past several years for nothing over and over and over and over again.
