Coyle looked a lot better after being sent down and brought back up. Granlund may look better too. It's only a few game trial. I would give it a shot.

Coyle is a beast though in terms of weight. Granlund's issues are his size.

Would you guys rather put Coyle as 2nd line center? When has he even played center?

I'd like Granlund at C, Coyle on the LW to give us that net front physical body, and Seto on the RW. Granlund needs good linemates to be successful. He does not belong anywhere near the bottom 6. I think he just needs some time and to build chemistry. Cullen is out 2 weeks. Plenty of time for Granlund to come up and give him another shot, but we don't have to rely on him for the rest of the season.

Parise-Koivu-Pommer - Hellz ya

Zucker-Mitchell-Setoguchi - Still the speed line and Mitchell can actually play center at the NHL level (which we don't know about Granlund or Coyle).

Coyle-Brodziak-Bouchard/Clutterbuck - Bouchard was responsible for the first goal last night. Clutterbuck has done a whole lot of nothing this season. I would just try them both out.

what do you guys think about a Zucker-Coyle-Seto line?

too risky given the lack of experience at center and having two rooks on the same line?

Assuming Granlund will stay in Houston, I really like these lines.

Somehow I don't have faith in Coyle's ability to be an effective #2C. I do hope I'm wrong, though.

What Stoner offers is strength and toughness. If need be, he can also drop the gloves. I agree he is not ideal, but the Wild can't afford to get rid of him and replace him with someone smaller/weaker, as they are already vulnerable to bullying from a big tough team come the playoffs.

He looked so bad earlier this season. Like Stoner bad, but at center.

Oh come on.

I admit he didn't look as good as I thought and I admit he should spend this season in Houston (I'm ready to bring him while Cullen is out), but your reaction is just plain ridiculous.

To start next season, I'd like to see this:

Parise - Koivu - Pominville
Zucker - Granlund - Setoguchi
Coyle - Brodziak - Fontaine
Rupp - Konopka - Mitchell

I'm fairly sceptical about Coyle's hockey iq. He just doesn't the head for a top-6 center, he's kinda offensively inept. He has always been better as a complimentary player. In the AHL it was Zucker and Granlund and in the NHL it has been Parise and Koivu.

Bold statements for a guy 24 games into his NHL career, don't you think?

I know but hockey iq rarely gets better.

I don't ever recall Coyle having being labeled with this before in any scouting report I've ever read.

In fact, I found this after a quick Google search:

“Charlie has an NHL hockey IQ,’’ Harlow said. “He thinks the game three plays ahead of everybody else in our league. I think when he gets to the high levels, where everyone’s hockey IQ is pretty equal to his, I think that’s where you’re really going to see Charlie Coyle shine.’’

Take it for what it's worth.
