Thoughts? Size isnt there, but some great potential.
I am not nearly as up on this draft as I am most years, but I’ve seen a fair bit of most of those guys....
I’m not crazy about Yuen. I don’t think he’s progressed a ton and for me that’s a huge red flag for a defenceman. That seems to be a unifying trait for a lot of defencemen who bust. He’s a nice skater, he’s smart, but I think there’s a lack of urgency in his game.
I didn’t see as much of Geertsen as I did last year, but I like his game. He’s got some work to do, but I think he would be a nice pick late in the third round. I think if he’s given time to develop in the A, he’ll be a solid pro.
That might be a little high for Ully, but I’m a fan and I wouldn’t mind taking a shot at him in the last couple of rounds. He’s got a lot of physical maturing to do, but he can skate. I would really like to see a little more speed in the system and I think he would be a reliable bottom six guy with a little bit of offensive upside.
I don’t think Bjorkstrand is a DL kind of guy. To me he’s lesser Martin Frk. I liked Frk last year at 30, but I think we can find a better fit at the end of the second round than Bjorkstrand. And he might not even be there at that point...
