This is basically a thread to discuss prospects we would be interested in selecting st the draft.
We have picks in rounds:
2
3
4 x 2
5
6
7 x 2

We also have a cond. 3rd/4th round pick. Odds are it is a fourth.

Goalie in the 3rd-5th round. For the ****ing love of god...draft a skilled forward in the 2nd. Anton Slepyshev WHEREVER you can draft him. Wouldn't be shocked to see a Teubert/Greene type of physical, mean d-man taken at some point too. Also, centers.

Slepyshev got passed over by 30 teams in 7 rounds already... And you're going to get frustrated if the Kings pass on him in another draft?

I agree with centers, a mean defenseman, and a goalie. Since Lombardi has been a GM for the Kings, he has never gone two years in a row of NOT drafting a goalie.
 
SuperAlmieda put up a really great draft thread that had a couple of solid kids profiled. I will put up a bunch too closer to the draft.

I think our prospect depth in the skilled forward department is still a little weak so I could see us take a runner on another Trophy (TT) type as well as character big bodied forwards.
 
I wasn't happy when DL traded Dallas' pick for their 2013. Wanted Slepyshev there. I feel the risk isn't as bad as it is made out to be.

Another Russian I feel we could draft is Bogdan Yakimov. 6'4, 200 pound centre.
 
There is plenty of interesting possibilities for late picks.

My two personal favourites right now are LW/C Marko Dano and G Patrik Bartosak.

Dano is a small skilled forward who played this past season with Slovan Bratislava in the KHL. Has great hockey awareness, fantastic hands, great vision, great shot, elusive but lacks top end speed and struggles somewhat defensively. A good comparable if he pans out is Justin Williams. Projected as a 2-4 round pick.

Bartosak was the best goalie in the WHL this season playing with Red Deer, IMO. A true competitor, solid positionally, good athleticism, but lacks ideal goaltending size. Passed over last year (somehow) can step into Ontario/Manchester next year.

Of course since those are favourites of mine they will likely end up with teams I hate, as has been the pattern last few years (Faksa-DAL, Rakell-ANA, Jurco-DET, Tatar-DET).

I like Dano and that would be a solid pick. Not enough info on Bartosak for me to judge him. Haven't seen him a lot at all.
 
One overager I'm interested in is Myles Bell. Would of been a late 1st round pick two years ago, but a unfortunate accident has him go undrafted. He first started playing D, but this season played LW. 93 points in 69 games. He can go to Manchester right away, and can play F/D.

Of course but the thing is the way the draft table works is that you have your lists of players that you project to be available at or around the time you are going to be selecting. Aside from all of the other possibilities (deals players dropping etc) when it comes down to your turn to select you look at your list of players and then who the BPA is that fits with your list and then you take him. Its the way the BPA thing works.

So if you need a dman to develop and its your pick you look at the BPA and if there isn't a D available you take the BPA but, if there is a D available one or two players away you try and trade down to pick up some extra fluff and your D prospect. Everyone does it.

No, no, no. I absolutely question his character with the **** he pulled. Also, going off memory he was at Rangers rookie/real camp last year and didn't get signed. So that that FWIW.

2) BPA
3) Don't draft a goalie in the first few rounds
4) Boom/bust prospect > safe prospect

Absolutely beg to differ on 3. Vasilevski is one of my favorite prospects in the world and Lehner and Markstrom were both 2nd rounders and both will be GREAT goalies, with Lehner probably becoming a top 5 goalie at some point.

BPA is a formula, not a rule. Every GM is always drafting BPA.

It depends on where you place your faith. If you believe that ISS or one of the other services scouting reports are better than you own teams then you go with the consensus BPA but if you believe that then you should either fire everyone who works for your scouting department or be fired yourself.

BPA should always be determined by your GM and scouting staff. So far we have one of the best if not the very best GM/scouting groups in the NHL so I am sure that no matter who we take we will be taking the BPA at the time.
 
OK ... Formula for upcoming Kings Draft:

1) BPA, as long as he's taller than 5'10", double check Tonellisghost like the pick, Draft him.
2) BPA, as long as he's taller than 5'11", double check Tonellisghost like the pick, Draft him.
3) BPA, as long as he's taller than 6', double check Tonellisghost like the pick, Draft him.
4) BPA, can be Boom/bust prospect as long as he's taller than 6', double check Tonellisghost like the pick, Draft him.
5) BPA, don't care if he's a midget, most likely not seeing NHL Ice, double check Tonellisghost is still awake shake him to be sure, Draft him.

in my opinion
1)trade bernier for a 1st rd pick plus a top prospect(connely+1st rd, forsberg+2nd rd, merril+1st rd, or strome+1st) yes bernier is that good and worth that much!!
2nd rd dman
3rd rd power forward
4th rd goalie
then best available
