I don't see the Devils drafted Brodeur, but, eventually signing him to an amateur try out deal or something like that.

He's not ranked in the top 30 goalies in NA I think, he would be way off the board.

I have never seen him play and can't make judgement of course, and I wish him tons of luck and hope he has a great career with us if it's meant to be.

Drafting Lil' Marty would put a colossal amount of unfair pressure on him.

I'd rather him go to Anaheim or Detroit or Ottawa or some **** and just let him do his own thing instead of struggling to keep up with daddy's shadow.

Rangers? :sarcasm:

Let Matteau Jr score on Brodeur Jr in the ECF :naughty:

As far as moving down, does anyone think Columbus would deal #14 and #27 for #9?

Also, since Montreal has #34 and #36, any chance they swap #34 down to #39 to pick up a later round pick?

That would leave the Devils with #14, #27, and #34.

I just get the feeling Lou isn't going to sit at #9 and I don't see him trading up.

If Columbus offered that I'd be surprised if Lou said no. That said I doubt Jarmo offers that.

I was thinking that with the drop off after the top 10 that maybe there was a player the BJs would just have to have...they're still getting two first rounders.

My dream pick today is Nichushkin. But I think it's such a dropoff after the top rated forwards. Monahan and Nichushkin are the only ones that intrigue me.

Russian sports media rsport.ru reported today that Nikita Zadorov had additional pre-draft interviews with 5 teams and New Jersey was among them

Im hoping that Lindholm drops so there's no way we can think that there is an available D-Man this is the best player available.

If NJ is planing on leveraging some of their defensive prospects in a trade for a skilled forward, then that's one thing and why they could be looking hard at guys like Nurse, Ristolainen, and Zadarov. Heard about them meeting Shinkaruk 3 times but oddly didn't hear much about Domi or Horvat with NJ. All of the chatter being leaked is that we are talking to dmen. I think this is mainly for a trade-back scenario.

I'm certain the Devils have interviewed all the players you mentioned, and everyone else as well. All teams interview pretty much everyone in the top 20 or so.

Lou said that he wants a forward.

The Devils won't make any big splashes for the sake of making big splashes at a draft we happen to be hosting. Still, it'd be cool to see something really big happen for us today.

I was in the camp of just trading down to get an extra picks, but now I really want the devils to trade up to get Nichushkin or Lindholm.

I am dreaming of a Nichushkin - Zajac - Kovalchuk 1st line. Those are some big dudes (6'4, 6'3, and 6'3 all 200+ lbs) who can skate.

I've long been in the trade up camp. Consensus seems to be that that group of fwd's is a step above. And Nichushkin is the guy I'd most like to get.

Also like the trade down thought as well. Consensus also says this draft is packed with talent through the first 2 rnds. So if we can't get into that top tier, I'd be happy with adding multiple picks and tapping into the drafts depth.

Staying put and drafting Shink? I'm ok with it. Staying put and drafting a d-man? I'd prefer not.

if Nurse and Risto go above us we are getting Nichushkin/Monahan/Lindholm

This is the scenario I am hoping for, but it requires one of the GMs in front of us to go completely insane.

Pierre more or less called Tedenby the next Mats Naslund, too.

Ya, Pierre says a lot of things. He says good things about damn near every player, and sometimes he ends up being right due to sheer volume.

Unless your last name is Semin.

But I am almost certain they take Monahan
