dont think nichushkin is available at 9 anyways so all this bickering is prolly moot. as far as the 2nd rounder is concerned, might be smart to grab another forward if there is one who is good value or even slipped. if not, id love to grab little subban if he is still on the board.

DATW said: "We've been talking about our 1st round pick for the past weeks with little to no mention about who we should target in the 2nd round. If we're lucky and the players I want are still on the board at the time, here's a list of forwards I'd target, in no particular order...

- Jacob De La Rose (LW)
- Samuel Morin (D)
- Anthony Duclair (LW)
- Laurent Dauphin (C)
- William Carrier (C)
- Jordan Subban (D)
- Andre Burakowsky (LW)"

I really liked both Carrier and Duclair back in October/November when we still thought we might draft one of those guys in the 1st. Still think both have top-6 goal scoring potential. I also really like Sergei Tolchinsky, but not sure he's BPA at 39th overall.

Just read the closed thread,

Bailey is definitely an intriguing guy but I can see a team taking a stab at him end of the first or so. I recall seeing good things when I watched him play and hearing similar stories when I didn't witness him play either.

Can we just draft Slepyshev with our 4th round pick already... if he's not gone by then. What harm can it do to our team anyways, it's not like we're wasting a 1st round pick or anything.

Real surprised no one decided to take a gamble with a 7th round pick last summer.

Doubt it...we have 3 goalie prospects and Marty's kid might not get drafted at all.

Plus I wouldn't put that pressure on him, growing up in the Org that made his family name famous.

I overheard some kid in the cafeteria talking about playing against Marty's son a few years ago...said he was completely garbage and one of the worst goalies in that league haha...he's probably only gonna be drafted bc of the name

whats the deal with him? i dont know anything about him

Maybe its just me, but I dont see the appeal in Justin Bailey even as a 2nd round pick. He has very pedestrian numbers

I have no idea if this may explain some of that, since I don't watch his team, but his team didn't score very much. Ryan Murphy and Matt Puempel didn't put up great numbers and they were both first round picks last season.

You can even add Radek Faksa to the list of first round picks last year on that team that didn't really dominate.

Faksa scored more than the other guys but Bailey did have a nice looking +/- compared to the other 3 guys.

From what I've read he basically played a 4th line role for the most of the season, or a somewhat limited role. When he got the chance on some of the top lines, he shined and played extremely well while producing decent numbers.

Add to that it's his first season and he's still 17. His potential is high (has all the right tools:skating, shot, size, hockey sense), that's why many consider him an early second rounder, or even a late first.

Probably more of a projection pick. Milan Lucic had 19 points in 62 games during his draft year and ended up in the 2nd round. Lucic is the exception, but you usually have to judge based on that particular prospect's circumstances. Whether or not he got substantial PP time or if he was behind some older guys.

Last year Tom Wilson was a 1st rounder after putting 9 goals in 49 regular season games. Most figured he'd be primed for a breakout season in replacing J.T. Miller. This year Wilson had 23 goals and 58 points in 48 games.

In Bailey's case, you might cut him some slack as a 17 year old in his first year in the OHL. Some guys need an adjustment period to life away from home.

this is a contest to win draft tickets. I entered but is there no way to purchase tickets?

They'll probably announce more info about tickets shortly.

Yeah they have a lot to figure out still. Season ticket holders are obviously getting tickets. New season ticket sign ups are also getting tickets. Seating gets restricted a little because of draftee's and their family.

Should be interesting to see how many tickets they release to the public.

More and more it seems like Calgary and Edmonton are both expected to go for a top center with Lindholm and Monahan possibly gone to these two teams.

I want Lou to call up Rutherford and try his hardest to trade up to pick number 5 to grab one of these two. Otherwise, we could be left on the outside without one of the top 7 forwards and having to either take a lesser forward or a defenseman would likely be BPA at this point.

Carolina probably wont take Nucushkin and really could use a dman and moving back to pick 9th should still put them in a position to grab a top dman in Ristolainen, Zadarov or Nurse while adding assets.

I would deal them Tallinder OR Urbom and a 2014 3rd to move back to 9th or else Fayne and a 2014 6th to swap picks. Would throw in Frazee as a bonus!
