Anthony Duclair finished the game with an EN assist. 2 g 1 a tonight.

Well there goes my hope of Duclair ever becoming as good as Crosby. :sarcasm:

What are you talking about? He's already as good as Crosby. Better even. :sarcasm:

66 goals isn't totally impossible though, he can go on a huge hot streak in these last few games and get there, unlikely though.

17. Duclair wont catch him.

Needs 11 goals in 13 games to hit 60 which would be a very big accomplishment for a kid his age. At this point, if he only hits 50 (has 49 now), it will raise red flags about his consistency. Needs to hit a minimum of 55 to avoid people questioning whether his stats were the result of one prolonged hot streak.

He'll get 55 baring injury but... a 4 months streak?

He's only been averaging 2+ points per game since December.

Oh come on, Beacon. He's been over a PPG all year and he's been at over 2PPG for more than two months. I'm not discounting the possibility that he might regress or fail to transition to the next level, but it's silly to downplay his performance this season.

I agree, I am just saying that if he has only 1-2 goals in the remaining 13 games, questions will be raised. He needs a minimum of 55 goals to finish the season.

At his rate and against the teams he'll be facing, he'll get 8 to 11 goals in 13 games.
He does well against Shawinigan(X2), Chicoutimi(X2) ,Rimouski(X2). possibilities of multiple goals is highly likely against these teams.
Plus, 1 head 2 head against Mantha.

Next year will tell us a lot about Duclair.

Sometimes, when players have had great years in juniors and in their minds have nothing left to prove, when they go back, they seem to retrogress.

This seems particularly applicable to Duclair, who seems especially motivated to show that his fallen draft status last year was a mistake.

So next year, after attending Ranger camp and being sent back to the Q, if he cannot duplicate what he is doing this year, I would worry and be concerned about his makeup.

If, on the other hand, he can repeat this year's performance then I would know we have something special.

Next year will be especially interesting.

This won't happens to this kid. He knows he's not ready for the NHL and he's anticipating leading his team to the Mem Cup next season. He said this in a radio interview a couple weeks ago.

Some teams are also checking him very close. For example, against Victoriaville, on Friday, he had no space to manoeuvre, none. Diaby and a forward was on him like white on rice. He must get use to this treatment and learn to play against this type of coverage.

Man alive has Nieves's production been disappointing so far.

He's one guy I hoped would take a big step forward this season. Disappointed is putting it very nicely. He went from top 5 on my list to barely in the top 15 when it comes to Rangers prospects. Not making the WJC team over centers I've never heard of except for Jack Eichel is a major red flag.

Billy Ryan 2.0

The story with Duclair isn't only that he has stepped up offensively, it's also that he became a leader.

This kid was suspended by his team just a year ago. He had red flags about his attitude and commitment to get better.

On Friday, his last shift on the ice is a good example of the new Anthony Duclair. Quebec was up 3-0 and there were only 30 seconds left. He blocked two hard slap shots by throwing himself in front of the shooter. It's the kind of things you don't see on stats sheets and it's the kind of things scouts don't see because they're already gone.

Look today, he could have scored his 50th goal in the empty net but he chose to pass to a teammate who was in a 7 games goal drought. He did the same for another teammate a few weeks ago.

He has things to improve. He tends to drag his feet. He's not always in movement. He must improve his decision making. However, I think he has proved this season that he knows his weaknesses.

Bare minimum.

Yeah I mean when I guy goes out there and puts up a 5PPG clip in one week, and follows that up with a 2PPG the week after, you gotta wonder what's causing the drop off.

Expecting more out of Tony D.

We should all be asking ourselves what's wrong with the Duuuuuuuuuuuuuukkke?

BTW quick McIlrath update.... I think he's cemented himself as one of the top fighters in the AHL. Last year and early this season guys wanted to take him on because of what they heard about him coming into the league.

Now they know.

I'm a Michigan student/STH holder and I agree unfortunately.

It hasn't been so much that he took a step back this year where as other people on the team took huge unexpected steps in front of him. He's also been having unbelievably bad puck-luck this year, and has a completely unsustainable 2.4% shooting percentage at the moment.

He hasn't had the year I'd like to see, but he certainly still has all the tools to be a very successful player. I'd say he's still a very good prospect.
