Anyone else enjoying Sweden-Russia? Sweden might have a solid chance vs. Canada. And the arena is rocking.
:)
Canada = fail
Sweden is number one now in the world regarding elite junior hockey. Regardless of today's outcome. Don Cherry eat your heart out in a chicken swede seizure spaz!

What is Sweden doing to produce all these awesome hockey players? Great developmental program.

To Cherry and the rest of the overly patriotic crowd, Canada's failures are now the fault of... Quebec. Yep, you got it.

Didn't like Buch poaching the empty net in a 1 goal game.

Watching Can - Rus now. Entertaining game to watch. Russia's woes with a change on the fly carries over from their semi-final with Sweden. At this level it should be unacceptable. Don't agree with Russian' coaches decision to put Buch in the box for extra-man penalty. What if there is going to be 4 on 4 opportunity? I would've played Buch in 4 on 4.

Oh here we go! Lol. I guess Russian coach knew that Buch was going to get a break away out of the box. : )

While I'm not disagreeing with you I lol'ed a little when I read bolted. You could have added also "regardless that yesterday Russia played at least even outside of the on the fly issue".

Nvm didnt realize how far back I was going with my reading but GWOW and MH I disagreed with in that they were significantly overreacting.

I didnt lose any sleep over it. I just think it was bush league. Its the same thing in baseball when you grandstand a home run.

I liked that Cherry showed Jaden Schwarz goal celebrations. Humble kid. I dont mind goal celebrations and I definitely like trash talking because it adds to the game.

But doing it at the end of a game after an empty netter is pretty lame. I dont care what team drafted him or what country he represents.

i would think it was way way beyond bush league based on your reaction. Then watching it it's not way way beyond bush league so like I said I only disagree with the overreaction. Clearly it's not exactly what's accepted in terms of typical celebrating though everyone agrees on that. Or should we maybe call it Buch league :snide:

In particular when I read MH's post I thought he actually hurt someone physically with a tomahawk or slew foot or something. That's how bad MH's reaction was.

Does any1 think Skjei was doing such a good job frustrating Buch that Buch targeted him on the bench there?

I don't have an issue with Russians what so ever. If that was a Canadian or American player or some random dude from Kazakhstan doing it I'd still have an issue with it. I don't like showboating.

I don't like it either, but I remember way back when people giving Kamensky a hard time for not celebrating hard enough when he scored. He didn't care and only played for a paycheck like all Russians. Now Ovechkin and Yakupov celebrate too much. Buch overdid it though. Just saying that people find new reasons to hate on Russians. Like it's still the cold war or something.

Just heard Russian "Shaj'bu", "Shaj'bu" loud and clear! Loved it!

You know no one has yet to explain to me, why people use "j" for a "y" sound when translating from Russian. It's not like Russia uses the latin alphabet and they use "j" for their "y" sound, so if you have free reign why not use "y" like in English? My aunt does the same thing on facebook and refuses to explain it to me. No one has explained in to me here either.

Where is Julius Honka projected to go in the 14 draft? I really like him on the powerplay.

He's even more of a PP monster day-to-day in the WHL.

I've seen 25 to outside of the first round. I ranked him 18th on early December top 30 ranking. Honka's going to be your typical head scratcher when all is said and done in the sense of he should have been ranked higher.

Elite hockey IQ with hands and feet to do something with it.

It is even worse on the other side. Brainwashing and thought manipulation has been unbelievable. IMHO overall level contra-depends on the quality of life.

I'm not surprised that your aunt doesn't want to explain it - gotta be a linguistic specialist. I think it has something to do with the way Russians associate "j" with Cyrillic "й". Why? No (good) idea.

She gets really testy. She'd be like "because that's the way it's easier for me". There's a reason I have limited contact with her, haha.

And none of those players are Ranger prospects, so depressing. Very jealous of the Preds Finnish prospects Saros(4th rounder), Vainonen(4th rounder), Maenalanen(5th rounder), and Salomaki a year older playing in the AHL.

Teruvainen and Ristolainen, what beasts, Chicago gets richer, Buffalo gets a future star.

Probably because in German "j" sounds about the same as Cyrillic "й" and historically German language was more known in Russia than English (English became dominant only in about last 40 years), so probabaly for many people it is still that way. :)

What's your take on Duclair and Buch?
