Original post was last about prospect developed out of Hartford in the last 5 years or so. Callahan, Dubi, Dawes and Korpikoski were either before that or right on the cusp. Erixon and Weise are good additions.

That probably has to do with the fact that quite a few of the Rangers recent picks during that stretch were from NCAA (Kreider, Stepan, McDonagh, Hagelin).
Stepan and MDZ were able to make the jump directly but that can't be held against the team in Hartford. MDZ even played a bit there during his rocky season.

There are always injuries. I think it would be best for the organization as a whole, to open up a couple of spots on the NHL squad about half-way through the year allowing a couple of Miller, Kreider, Lindberg, Fast, Kristo, Hrivik to play and thus allowing those (2) to play in their spots in the AHL.

It's obviously a matter of roles; they don't want offensive players in a bottom 6 role in Hartford. It's also a sign of good depth. But those guys should absolutely tear up the third division if they want to convince people to raise them up the chart.
Any thoughts on Carsen Chubak? He was fantastic last year for Niagara, finishing with a 1.91 GAA and .939 SV% over 35 games.

I only see Niagara play once or twice a year on average. I never paid specific attention to their goaltending, but I do take all performance out of the Atlantic division with an enormous grain of salt. Most of those teams with the exception of RIT have perpetually poor hockey programs, and the fact that about 90% of the weakest teams in the NCAA play in the same division really makes stats out of there a tough thing to evaluate with.
I can say that of the NCAA goaltenders last year, the ones I liked best were Hartzell, Malcolm, and McKay. Chubak never caught my eye in a positive or negative way from the games I did watch, but I'm always very, very skeptical of the Atlantic.

I am only now having the chance to watch the Sunday game against the Devils. My schedule is beyond crazy for the next month and I get to watch it from my office only because a meeting got cancelled. But here are my notes.
FIRST PERIOD
The Mission was ok, but gave up a pair of goals. Neither was horrible, but both potentially stoppable by a superior goalie. That said, he's an AHL backup, so no problem.
McIlrath is skating well, landed a big hit on Matteau, plus a few more hits. Good positioning and his balance clearly improved over last seasons. Still can't handle the puck to save a life, however. Once he learns to make a quality first pass, he'll get much better.
Miller and Kreider scored. Miller looks really good, really confident out there. Kreider is doing what he should: disappears and puts himself in position to score. That's how he plays best.
Mash is like a poor man's Nash, but a very poor man's. Like what a cubic zirconium is to a diamond.
Kristo isn't bad for the AHL, but don't expect him in the NHL this season unless we have a rash of injuries.
I like Yogan, he's kind of like Bourque, but over half a foot taller.
Bourque is being Bourque, he's the same every game.
Johnson is a very good defense, Syvret is also solid.
Not much from the rest.
SECOND PERIOD
Johnson had an empty net on the PP, but failed to score. Then took an immediate tripping penalty. Whitney then scores a PP goal. 3-2 Albany.
Kreider hit the inside of the goal post, but unfortunately not in. Good shot though.
Tripping on Miller. Not a good penalty, pulled down a Devil on the offensive blue line.
Kreider with a nice run and shot. Very good shift all around. Looking good this game.
Big save by Mission.
Johnson with two big places on the PP to keep the puck in the offensive zone.
Kreider continues to play well.
Every time MCI hits, it sounds like thunder.
Hughes is a solid defenseman. Does the little things right.
GOAL: Bourque with a tremendous takeaway, then takes a hit without flinching, slides down to the bottom of the faceoff circle to draw all the attention to himself, only to pass it to Miller who had a wide open empty net. Miller managed to hit the goal post somehow, but had so much time and space that he tapped in the rebound after that. Huge play by Bourque to make this goal happen.
Devils got called for a penalty. The Pack will have 1:40 of PP to start the third.
THIRD PERIOD
Good team effort on the PP, but nice save by Kinkaid.
Allen with a big defensive play, making himself look like Staal.
GOAL: Big Mac with his first pro goal! Kristo worked hard along the board, took a hit like a man, passed it to Johnson, who sent it along the blue line to Big Mac. MCI fired a nice wrist shot at the end, and Kinkaid was screened by Kreider, so the puck went in. Good work by all the guys mentioned.
After scoring, MCI suddenly looks more confident with the puck.
MCI almost scored again, again with a wrister from the blue line.
MCI looks revived. Good defensive play.
Big save by Mission. He's good on low shots, not so much on high shots, which is weird for a guy his size.
Bickel is a good defenseman at this level, just not in the NHL.
Kreider creating more opportunities.
Kristo is good at this level, but will need at least a year of seasoning. Needs to get stronger, among other things.
MCI fans on a pass, then collapses as he's hit with the puck between his legs.
Haley got a short breakaway, beat Kinkaid, but hit the post.
Powe is like the young Drury of the AHL.
MCI with a good block with under a minute to go on a 6-on-5.

Well, one silver lining to the current craptastic play at the NHL level - with each passing Rangers game, I am becoming more and more pleased with my decision to buy the HFD season pass.

Because he's a superior player right now.
No, it's a league for people who belong in that league, not if you aren't good enough.
He won't be wasting away, he'll be playing 17-20 minutes a game with offense-first players there, gaining experience and confidence. This is better than playing a few minutes a game with goons in the AHL.
This is not true. Yogan went down to the ECHL for a few games, did well and now is a very good AHL player, with a real future in the NHL.
That is best done in a league and team where he gets to play on the first line with real attention from the coach as opposed to being an afterthought on the 4th line.

Is Hartford implementing the new system av is teaching?
Im wondering if that would speed up development time considering the difficulties the vets are having learning it.

Only so many times the parent club can receive drubbing after drubbing before a case is made for bringing up Allen and moving one of Girardi/Del Zotto.

Missed the Pack goal. Phantom's score 2 goals to take a 2-1 lead.
1st goal: McI takes a bad penalty in the Wolf Pack zone. Phantom D men get 4-5 clean shots from the point, one of them finds it way through.
2nd goal: Mashinter gets his pocket picked right in the slot and Phantom forward fires it in.
McI just made a nice play sealing off a defender with a hit and then poking it away from another. Broke up a Phantom rush.

Mashinter-Alt square off. Mashinter drops him with one punch. Could have gotten real ugly.
Mashinter gets an extra 2 for roughing. Could have gone either way. Alt took a few slashes and Mashinter dropped his gloves quickly.

Not trying to make this a McIlrath love fest, but again makes a nice intercept then leads a rush, toes up a shot and gets a terrific chance from the slot.
Nice glove save by Talbot. Has pretty good rebound control. What stands out for me most when I watch him.
Allen has had some BAD turnovers.
Bickel is a serviceable AHL D-man. No idea how he was ever an NHL regular.

Intermission Race was down to the wire.
2 kids had to race and put on gloves, pants, chest pads, jersey, helmet and a stick.
Both kids missed the initial shot, but then retrieved it from behind the net and kid in blue scored on the backhand.
Might have a scandal though. Kid in blue scored and didn't have his helmet on.
Don't know if it's a reviewable play.
