btw how relieved is one certain Mr. Chiarelli after hearing the 13-14 cap is 64.3m not 60m
A cap of 60m would've made things slightly uncomfortable

Buy into what? You don't trust Burnsides reporting? That McDonalds thing alone blew my mind.

As for Brooks tweet, exactly, hive and take, but Bettman blew up and walked away at that point, yet if they kept negotiating maybe this ends a month ago.

Fehr said they were close.....

Buy into the fact that those who run the NHL are in fact morons. Cnsidering the fact that they made it into and now run a multibillion dollar business, I persoally don't think they are.

Burnsides is great. Is the article spot on? Hard to say, only time will tell. McDonalds is still a sponsor of the NHL I believe? As well as a sponsor of FIFA, the NFL, the Olympics, yada yada yada. They sponsor lots of stuff. What exactly did the NHL lose with McDonalds? And I wouldn't worry about NBC either, they have a long term contract and now there's a long term CBA. Continue to grow the sport in the States (which the NHL is very very good at btw), and NBC will be happy. That's huge for sponsors, 10 years...

There are fan boycotts... well it all comes down to choice, how many other choices do most have for hockey? Not many. They'll have to win the casual fans back, but they're casual, that's how it usually goes. We're still on HF talking about how mad we are at the NHL. We're still talking about supporting the Bruins while in the next breath proclaiming our disdain for JJ and Co. and vehemently saying will never put another dime in his pocket (which is funny, because you can't support the Bruins without doing so).

There is about to be a shortened season, and shortened seasons mean more meaningful games, less time before trade deadline day, less time before the playoffs, etc... Changed financials mean more likely hood of deals.

No offense to Mr. Burnside meant, I just don't think the NHL or owners will suffer for this missed half season to the extent some... hope (not saying Burnsides hopes it suffers, I doubt that's the case at all, some just seem to glomb onto this article with glee thinking doomsday scenarios)?

And please, don't get me wrong. I'd love to give both players and owners a piece of my mind and show them my displeasure with these lockouts. The only way I can do that is to stop watching hockey and being so emotionally invested in it however, so I guess I'll just have to settle for sending them unhappy thoughts while smiling and sending them my money. Sad truth, but truth all the same.

Real_ESPNLeBrun: NHL is proposing April 5 trade deadline regardless of start date. But NHLPA and NHL still haven't agreed on critical dates. So we'll see ...

This conference only jam packed schedule might be more entertaining than a full season.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Back in he old original 6 days you'd go against the same guys every 10 to 12 days, talk about hate. Real hate. Made each game more and more fun. That's not even talking about playoffs.

Bring it on I say!

Anyone know if KPD and Paul Kelley are friends? The discussion was clearly 2 on 1 and KPD was clearly in the minority. Fun to watch but also a little sad, a few years ago I read KPD religiously but little by little his opinions seem to have become based in " don't you know whomI am" and less in clear, objective thinking.

Agreed. Familiarity breeds contempt

Indeed.. a 6 vs the division, 2 vs conference would be amazing.. but it looks like its not going to happen that way.

Don't lie, I know you love random games against Columbus

Are you kidding? Dupont and Kelly are BFFs of the highest order.
That's why Dupont thinks Ference is the anti-Christ.

What was the dispute about?

Basically KPD said with Kelly the agreement would have happened much sooner and with similar terms.Haggs and Felger were incredulous.

Haggs of course had to drop a couple of times during the interview that he talks to players. He's so cool

I'm bitter...

These guys (both sides) really pissed on the fans.

I start to get excited about a season and all this bitterness swells up. I got all these texts today from people expecting me to be over the moon but all I feel is conflicted. I really hope fans stay away for awhile. I know that will never happen because here I am, bitterness and all, reading a line combo thread, but I'm going to cheer like crazy for those fans with the discipline and fortitude to make a statement.

Felger and Haggs are the two biggest frauds in the market.
