Didn't I bring up the topic of sponsors a few months ago and people thought it wasn't an issue? Of course it is. That article just reinforces that.

Pretty sure the Red Sox over the past two seasons have been a bigger disgrace than the NHL lockout.

Agree that both are a disgrace.

However, regardless of what Red Sox say about attendance, anyone with eyes can see the fans have punished them for it.

I forgot that now there won't be a ****** lockout weekend. Hopefully they get rid of it permanently.

If I was looking to be a pro sports sponsor, I wouldn't put my money in a league run by Gary Bettman.

think whatever you like. at least the red sox have actually played in all of their allotted games and not held the fans hostage for a second time in seven years.

although i wonder how the league is going to apologize this time? and the players? "we really wanted to get a deal done. now we have to try to earn fans back." and they'll say it with glum faces and look ashamed of themselves! rubes will eat it up.

say what you will about the red sox. the last two mlb seasons have been outstanding, the postseasons both remarkable. and, and this might sound crazy to an nhl fan, they're actually planning on starting the season! on time even! mlb has its own past and its own warts. but at least they seemed to have actually learned a harsh lesson from 1994. i still remember the fan getting onto shea stadium and throwing money at bobby bonilla. fans were pissed then. nhl fans should be even more pissed now.

I'd buy out Seguin and re-sign him to an 8 year-$14M contract.
I'd buy out Chara and re-sign him for an 8 year-4.8M contract.

Just knocked about $10M per year off the cap payroll for the next 6 years.

If they don't allow that they should at least add the ability to restructure someone like Chara.

If they don't allow one of the above I think Marchand, Lucic, Boychuk and Peverley are possibilities. I'd actually try and trade Marchand to a team in the West. If contract values are going to end up going down as a result of the CBA, a $4.5M hit for a guy like Marchand may be quite a bit above market value. Lucic is in the same boat, IMO. I like both of them so it would be tough to move either one, but business decisions will have to be made for the long term health of the team. Plus it would be nice to have plenty of cap space when Patrick Kane becomes a FA in a couple of years; or maybe we should target him now ;)

Any word on if this will be allowed?

I rather not pay for Bruins season tickets for the first half of this season because no one is playing than be forced to pay for Red Sox season tickets for the second half of last year. That's robbery.

What's the over/under that the owners offer half-price tickets as an apology to the fans for this fiasco ?

Been lurking and watching Dominican League winter baseball during the lockout. I hope for a 20-20-10 season as far as the schedule goes. 20 games in division, 20 game in conference, and 10 non-conference games.

those asking, Bill Daly confirmed you CANT use the compliance buyouts on players who have LTIR status, such as Chris Pronger.

So Marc is on the books until his contract is done.

#NHL has not announced shortened 2013 schedule yet, but did say the Islanders have already been eliminated.

That was quick.
