Wow. Great news on Lindberg. Kind of like the Conn Smythe?

Exactly like the Conn Smythe! No clear cut winner like Silfverberg last year but Lindberg's been the most productive and best player of the cup winning team. :handclap:

Final stats: GP, G, A, P, P/G, PIM, +/-
Lindberg, Oscar SAIK CE 13 4 8 12 0.92 16 14:1
2 GWG, 58.45% FO

Get him over to play on the 3rd line this weekend. Push Richards down to the 4th and force him to produce or get scratched.

I asked Jim Cerny yesterday if the plans were to bring him over to NA immediately and he said he was gonna ask Gorton but he'll definitely be over next year

I really want to Lindberg this year. If he plays well, maybe we amnesty Richards and go Stepan, Brassard, and Lindberg as our centers next year.

Ideally, Lindberg should be that 3C that teams would die for. Pahlsson/Berglund/Steen types.

Stepan should ideally be the 2C and we need to draft that #1 guy by tanking next season. William Nylander.

...shakes head...

Only in the Rangersphere could sucking be planned a season in advance.

I don't think Stepan has proved himself to be a 1C yet. BUT, don't you think it's unfair to cap a 3rd year player that has improved every season he's been in the league and has had a breakout year this year? Why can't he be a 1C at some point?

Don't think he has the talent/tools to match up with his crazy hockey IQ. If you give Kreider Stepan's brain, he'd probably be a franchise player. Stepan is still relatively slow and undersized.

Yet if we give him a mulligan on his awful start, he's been playing near PPG hockey for months now.

If Kreider/anybody else who was more physically gifted than Steps had his brain, they'd be putting up 100 point seasons. Stepan can absolutely be a franchise player based on his smarts. He has to play like this for more than one fluke half season, though.

Was Lindberg on the NYR reserve list to be eligible for the playoffs this year?

Every player we've drafted is on our reserve list. Lindberg is also under contract. It would be no different than calling someone up from Hartford. He could play for us, but I doubt he will join us this year.

Even if Steps retains this type of pace, I don't think he'd be a franchise guy. Maybe a borderline 1C or perfect 2C on a legitimate cup contender. He is a lot like Joe Pavelski, both slow skaters but high hockey IQ and reliance on smarts to get by. I don't consider Pavelski a franchise player.
