@Real_ESPNLeBrun: Pressure cooker day. Traction in talks juxtaposed with NHLPA re-arming itself with disclaimer hammer this evening...

What a shock. NHL won't negotiate except under the gun.[/QUOTE]

PLZ... Everyone is playing the same game, the exact same way.

Like the PA waiving their disclaimer flag around isn't exactly the same damn thing.

Actually ... the purpose of the doi (at this stage) is to keep the players spirits up.
They have to believe they have one more card to play otherwise they might fold too quickly.

@NYP_Brooksie: Told that league has indicated willingness to come off $60 for next year, maybe $63-64, but in return for what, I don't know...

Perhaps the League goes up to 63/64 for next year in return for the players increasing their opt out option on the CBA to 8 years from 7? That the league is finally willing to move the cap number up a bit is huge news.

That's huge. Both for ending the lockout and for the Rangers.

That would be something really nice.
Until Sather signs both Koivu and Streit this offseason as UFAs to multi-year deals chomping and saying "I believe they still got some gas left in them". And dismantles team...;) :sarcasm:

RangerBoy posted that former NHLer Brett Hedican also says #lockout over.

This is simply vintage stuff on the lockout - http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=48202&blogger_id=1

It is a week until the deadline!!!! The NHL fixed it. Don't let the goon who plays two minutes a game affect the fact that you need to score a goal and there is less than a minute to go. FOCUS!

Understand, and not saying to the players to focus on the end of the game as I'm telling the owners as well. Some owners honestly are as mad about yesterday's HRR snafu as the players are. Not because they weren't able to pull the wool over the player's eyes, but because this is even being talked about at all right now!!!

"Hi, Mr Dolan. Eklund here. Do you have a moment to let me explain to you how you should end this lockout?":laugh::laugh:

@michaelgrange: Sources confirm that @odognine2 is just messing with people on twitter. He's good at it!

The guy who broke the parise and suter signings claiming over with a Jan 12th start? Anyone confirm if hes reliable or just got lucky?

Bit skeptical of that report, because I can't see them waiting until January 12th to start camp if the deal was really done. I'd expect camp to start 2-3 days after a deal is reached.

There's no way. They'd still need ink on paper, time for player travel and a short camp. No way they can start a week from today. I'd say no matter when they get it done, 1/19 is probably the target date.

Nick Kypreos on Sportsnet. NHL is offering a $63M cap for 13-14. NHLPA is asking for $65M.

If only there was some number between those two that they could reach an agreement on. Too bad Einstein is dead because only someone as smart as him could figure it out.

That would be start of season nit camp. They have been saying for awhile now 7 days between agreement and season starting
