Holy crap, movement? =-O.. we'll see if anything comes out of it though this time.. still not optimistic.

Last question remains - Cap ceiling & floor for 2013/2014 season??

If players/Fehr can settle this final hurdle and still wanna hold out --- well then they deserve a long dose of unemployment!

ETERNAL

Compliance buyout would be wonderful! So scared that Redden's contract would count. You could say goodbye to McD, Steps, and DZ if it does.

Now's your chance, PA. Although I truly am wondering if they're holding out until 1/2 to file their disclaimer.

I'm worried we're gonna have to say goodbye to McD, Steps, or DZ anyway.

Even with Redden getting bought out, aren't we up against the cap (or what we anticipate the cap will be)? How are we gonna resign DZ??

Gonna be tough. LeBrun tweeted that the owners still want a $60 mil cap in the 13/14 season.

Probably going to have to say goodbye to Gaborik.

The PA will reject it.

The NHL proposal was so detailed it was like a finalized CBA which means it was a "sign here or no season" proposal.

Once Fehr tries to get even more thinking he has Bettman where he wants him, the season will be cancelled and we can go about our business debating where to place the blame... the PA or the league.

It's BS that we have to surrender our winning team.

The league should have a trading cap space provision then.

Gaborik might be the casualty. :(

Judging by his work prior to the 04-05 lockout, I think Sather knew what he was doing here. Brought in Nash this season and can easily fit him under the cap to make one amazing push at the cup. I think he knew he'd probably have to part ways with Gaborik depending on how the lockout went and he was prepared for it.

It's not like losing Gaborik is going to make this team any less of a playoff (keyword: playoff contenders, not cup) contender than it has been. But it's obvious that the 12/13 (now '13) season, if it gets played, will be the Rangers BEST chance for a cup in a long time.

Not to mention Lundqvist gets older every day, that's the biggest problem :(

It's an absolute joke that the teams that can support themselves are the ones that'll suffer under this new CBA.

Unlike a lot of people i'm all for hockey in Florida and NC and whatnot, but when we're gonna have to get rid of our 40 goal scorer, and probably more, because they can't afford to spend, then that is ****ing garbage.

And I disagree, Silver. You're probably right in that's what Slats thinks but if we lose Gabby then our problem is, once again, we have one top tier scorer. We're LOSING our best chance to get a cup if we lose this season, definitely, but also we didn't gain much by adding Nash and losing Gabby.

The NYR got absolutely ****ed by this lockout.

It's no secret that this is a lockout for the small market teams.

60M cap? There goes the proposal, guys. PA won't have any if that. How can the cap drop from 70.2 to 60 in one year?

Jacobs, the hard liner, will probably be effected the most. Someone can correct me on the exact numbers, but he's right against the cap, with 1 goalie left to sign. Maybe a few skaters?

Bruce Garrioch ‏@SunGarrioch

My sources say owners have privately informed Bettman cancelling the season is not an acceptable option.

As long as the Rangers have a compliance buyout to use on Redden, let's play hockey. $60M cap and all. Let's play hockey.

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $60,000,000
CAP PAYROLL: $53,741,667
BONUSES: $637,500
CAP SPACE (16-man roster): $8,895,833

Left to sign
McD $3,5M+
Stepan $2,5 - 3M
Hagelin $2M+
TOTAL $8M+
CapSpace =around $0,5M (19 man roster)

Pyatt, Rupp and Asham ($4M in space) might possibly be replaced by Fast, Lindberg, Miller ($2,9M in space). Not sure if they could...

This would create another $1,1 M = $1,6M total space

Still need one more defender and 2 fwds on the team
Good lord, Newbury, Haley and Gilroy at league minimums?
Would fit, barely...

Sauer ??? retires ???
McIllraith maybe is forced to graduate midseason - maybe replacing Stralman. Another $0,4M

So somebody "untouchable" will most likely need to leave the squad with a $60M cap
Gaborik??
Most likely
Boyle (not an Elliot Ness guy btw)??
Could be...
Time will tell
