2009 Born for the 2025 OHL DRAFT

Can someone in the know give me an example of some top 2007 or 2008 players from the US who went undrafted in past OHL drafts that may go in the first 4 rounds of this draft (because of the change to the CHL/NCAA rules)?

This priority draft seems to be the craziest, most unpredictable draft ever......I can hardly wait!

I can’t tell you who hasn’t been drafted but there are also the players that were drafted and not protected. I’m not sure how to access teams protected lists. I assume there are not many ‘06s that were drafted and still protected. They have to leave more room for their younger draft picks.

top 5 seems to be figured out, just sorting on where... leaves north bay at 6 to do something silly, hopefully not. Whose best chance 6th overall? Chit?
I wouldn’t be so sure of that. A lot of these discussions are acting like there aren’t any Americans as good or better than the top 5. I don’t know the entire USNDP roster yet but I wouldn’t be surprised if one or maybe even two of those kids slides in and pushes somebody down to NB.

Does anyone know when the US NTDP rosters typically get announced?
this usually happens around this time, maybe they delay it because the USA Nationals are going on right now? Some players are tendering in the USHL that were part of the NTDP Camp, they must know something.

Anybody got a read on JRC kids Laus and Ardagh? Which is the better prospect and why?

Need bigger bodied forwards with skill and speed on the Soo imo. Who else fits the bill of a great skater with skill and size who plays with an edge that fits in at 7th overall?
Laus played with Warren often. Ardagh joined them in the playoffs but then left that line in the OHL Cup again from what I could tell on the stream I saw?

Laus creates space for Warren and can play off the cycle; these two complement each other.
Ardagh uses skill first, Laus has a power game. Both appear to be very good players.

interesting not nearly as many high end us guys added to the draft as i thought, so perhaps the 2nd round wont be as heavy on usa 07/08s as everyone thought.

im not posting anything but 40 guys or so but not everyone will be taken in the top 40, maybe 2/3. interesting everyone figured it would be much more.

Isn’t 40 a lot? I assume there are still going to be guys that are protected.

It will be interesting how it all plays out though. I think teams will still go young through the first half of the 2nd round. It will probably start in the 3rd round. Ottawa needs centres so if they have the inside track on one or two mature American centres that are willing to report, I can see them maybe select a couple ‘07s in the 3rd round.

How are the ’06s looking? Does there seem to be any 19 year olds on the radar being added to the drafts or do you think these guys are pure free agent signings in June?

not really, thats pretty common. each team has the power to add 5, so i was thinking it would be closer to 70/80 and alot of the adds are 09s, not 07 or 08s.

lots of adds go undrafted as well

Interesting. But that could still point to a lot of the ‘08s and ‘07s still remaining on protected lists.

As a Petes' fan I've had some time on my hands:rolleyes:
So I did a deep dive and here is what I found
  • 2007 US born players taken in 2023 Priority draft but haven't played
  • 2008 US born players taken in 2024 Priority draft but haven't played
  • 2007 and 2008 US born players not chosen in an OHL draft and played some games with USNTDP
  • 2009 US born players who were at USNTDP camp but will likely declare for the OHL priority draft
I don't have enough knowledge to say how this will affect the upcoming draft and hockey season but I'm sure it will be very interesting.
Maybe @OHL4Life can shed more light on this.

Update:
Winters has made the USNTDP U17 team.
Todd Warriner's son is going to the WHL.
McKinney has signed a tender in USHL.

You have to assume the majority, if not all, of the ‘08s drafted will be on protected lists. Many of the ‘07s would remain on the protected lists. So, I am not sure how many of these drafted players would actually be available in this upcoming draft.

interestingly warriner used the chl rule and has opted to go to the whl where his dad played, he was taken off the ohl list a month or so ago

Where will Oliver McKinney go?

Also question since the average fan doesn’t get gthl points etc

What were the stats for Peter Green and Caden Bell? Green more 2 way and Bell more offensive? What were stats just wondering
