2008 NHL Re-Draft

It's a pretty weak group after the top 4 guys on pretty much everyones list.
I'm not as high on Eberle as many others and would take some of the defencemen like Josi, Bogosian, Myers and Hamonic before him.

Next are: Henrique (just missed), Hodgson, Hamonic (trending up), Myers (has trended down since his rookie season), and Markstrom (prospect value has decreased)

EDIT: there's a sizeable gap between Doughty and Karlsson, but not as big as the gap between Pietrangelo and Eberle. As well, Pietranegelo is getting very close to Karlsson.

Not this year. He's been our best player and been our #1 Dman passing Ehrhoff in the last month. He'd have way more points but most of our forwards are AHLers for life.

Stamkos

Pietrangelo (I just feel he's the most complete of the big 3 08 dmen)
Karlsson
Doughty

Eberle
Holtby
Bogosian
Carlson
Josi
Stepan
Hamonic
Myers
Hodgson

Those are how the tiers go. You can order the guys within tiers whatever way you want IMO, but their tier placements themselves are not debatable.

Sure they are. I'd argue that Stamkos is in the same tier as the top 3 dmen.

I don't have a problem with everybody rating Myers between 8-12 because of his inconsistencies in the last 2 years but if he keeps up his play from this year, he moves into this top 5.

1 Stamkos
2 Doughty
3 Pietrangelo
4 Karlsson
5 Myers

Its up to you dude, I along with many others dont agree with you, and many others wont agree with me. Id like to see your rankings if you honestly think Carlson > Bogo :shakehead

Then again your username is a mix of 2 caps dmen, one of which being Carlson

Are you serious? You're the one who almost put Markstrom in his top 10. :biglaugh:

Carlson made Team USA while Bogosian was barely in the discussion. That's a game.set.match right there.

That's a STRONG statement coming from you about Carlson. Care to elaborate? Because I don't agree.

Uh, sure. Carlson has been a top pairing defenseman for over 3 seasons now, and has been a #1 defenseman for the last ~1-1.5 seasons. Myers has been a disappointment since his rookie season.
Oh sorry. I see now that he's been the best defenseman so far this season on the worst team in the league. That definitely pushes him above Carlson.

No love for Boedker, yet some people put Markstrom in their top 10?

Okay.

Exactly. It's almost as if most people on HF barely watch other teams...

I guess you didn't read my post so I copied it for you. I said that "if he keeps up his play from this year, he moves into this top 5". That implies the future, not today. Myers also has a higher ceiling than Carlson and plays on a better defensive team than Washington. Myers is also surrounded by worse offensive players than Carlson. If he played on Washington he would have 40-50 points a year.

Shouldn't Voynov get a bit more consideration than guys like Myers since he's actually an integral part of a great defensive unit that has won a cup at this point?

If he keeps up his play for a whole season he'll move ahead of Carlson who has kept up better play for over 3 seasons?

Ok.

Ok.

IMO Myers has a higher ceiling and is playing to that potential. He does need to keep playing like this to move ahead of Carlson. Don't get me wrong, I love Carlson but Myers is playing out of this world unbelievable.

Well done. Very close to my ranking.

Myers, when he's on, dominates a game. Not sure where I put him exactly, 8-10 probably right now. Of the guys around there, I like Myers for his massive upside. Consistency is needed now, but he's been solid for awhile and dominant in his recent play. All IMO.

Myers >>> Carlson. Myers is bigger, better offensively, better defensively, more physical, better skater and just better in every facet then Carlson. Myers has the Calder. Myers has the 48 point rookie and 37 point sophomore season. Carlson has a career high of 37 then 32. And Myers doesn't have the benefit of a future HoF forward on his team.

The only dmen ahead of Myers is Pietrangelo, Doughty and Karlsson. Guys like Josi, Carlson, Bogosion aren't close to Myers.
