Martin 3 Marlies 2. WOW. Full team effort and you could sense Marlies frustrated with relentless forecheck.
Moore over Roobroek for me
Moore’s going USNTDP though. The question will be if the CWG and OHL Cup has Martin over Roobroeck for Erie. Martin played considerably better in both big events

My prediction for the draft:

1) Moore
2) Schaefer
3) Roobroeck
4) Martin
5) Hopkins
6)Griffin

I want Martin at 3 but doesn't mean anyone in the Soo organization does haha
Moore definitely isn’t going 1 as he’s committed to the USNTDP

Realistically erie will take one of Martin/Roobroeck. Niagara will take Schaefer. Soo will take whichever over Martin/Roobroeck is left. Kingston will take Hopkins. Then the draft starts. Can Niagara convince Griffin to come at 5 or do they need to reach

I know of one of the possible candidates for Niagara at 5 who’s already told them he will not be coming

UPDATED (completely serious) MOCK DRAFT after the Waterloo/Marlies QF game:
ER 1: LJ Mooney
NIA 2: Matt Schaefer
SSM 3: Tyler Hopkins
KGN 4: Owen Griffin
NIA 5: Shamar Moses
OSH 6: Brady Martin

There will be no questions at this time
Hearing Malcolm Spence and LJ's former Pen Elites teammate Alex Messier are heavily in the ears of Erie's Front Office, I can confidently project LJ Mooney as the first overall pick as well.

Is the though...the most recent article on him stated he was only leaning in the NTDP's direction.....I still think he has a deal worked out with a team of his choice and using the U-18's as leverage

Will he actually report? I would be really surprised if he does...

Niagara having two picks in the top 5 really will make this interesting. Many top players don't want to go there and the league is pushing Niagara hard to make sure they pick two players that will report.

He’s undersized and Erie has been adamant, both through their actions and words, that they need and want to get bigger. This would make no sense. And while I understand Spence having some voice, Messier has zero. Maybe in the 2nd round, sure. But 1st overall?

Several USA 15U/16U scouts on twitter who apparently had seen the roster were saying he'd already committed to them

Conspiracy theory........was Roobroeck coasting so that he will fall to Oshawa? :skeptic:
Chaos for sure
No. Saw him a few times. Didn't do much. Coasts around. I've seen the smaller guys on Waterloo and Peterborough being more productive. Peterborough destroyed Flyers slow giants. It's all about speed. skill and hockey IQ. Height is way over- rated. Parents who have followed him a lot say he is still riding the hype around his early years. People just can't let go of their rock stars I've observed. This goes for the goalies as well. Look at the hyped Marlies goalie. With that defense he gets pulled again today. Check the Movember JRC game. Pulled there too. AH Rock stars. :)

I by no means have heavy USA sources, but everything I've heard has said Mooney is committed to USNTDP route. So for Erie to talk him out of that, they might need to sell him the appeal of being the 1st overall pick. Maybe even that wouldn't be enough, who knows

If you're going to come on this thread just to shit talk multiple 15 year olds on your post, I'd suggest you just don't post. Hopefully you're just a young kid who doesn't know any better, but if you're an adult coming online to talk shit about kids, might want a check in the mirror. Roobroeck and Nelson are both tremendous players and will be in the OHL as well. Come on dude

Average size of NHL players is 6'1"-6'2" and they know a little bit about hockey in that league. Just saying. I would put more faith in scouts than hockey parents drinking coffee and bad mothing other peoples kids in hockey rinks around the province. Maybe they should be called hokey parents.

If Moore does indeed go USNTDP, I wonder if the CHL reconsiders it's exceptional status process. They could have had him last year; instead they might not have him at all...

He’d be far from the first guy to head off to the NTDP and it’s hasn’t hurt them before. They aren’t going to change how they pick ES guys because one or two high end players go somewhere else. It’d be a drop in the bucket compared to the fact that vast majority of talent does stay within the OHL.

nooo…lol..More like dont let the door hit you in the ass on the way out . You honestly think the kid was ready for the OHL this season ? There’s one other 07 in the country -aside from Misa- who could of fit right in as a fulltime CHL player this season and he’s out in the West

I really like that they have a play by play for the online stream for the semi finals. Gives people some real life experience. They should do it for all games though.

Could Saginaw convince Moore to report? Having the MCup can be very appealing
I don't think it's that appealing tbh. It's huge for the franchise but it's not huge for a rookie player on a team that will be adding and likely pushing him down to the 4th line. Also not that big of a scout tournament for whatever reason. They seem to put a lot more stock in the OHL playoffs vs the actual Mem Cup because it's so short

Not to mention that Saginaw likely uses this selection to get a big name player at the deadline.

William Moore isn‘t an option for Saginaw.

JRC beats Waterloo 4-0 and Vaughan beats Peterborough 4-2 in the semis. It will be Vaughan vs. JRC in Monday's final. JRC beat Vaughan 5-1 in the preliminary round

It wouldn’t be the craziest thing for them to try. They already have plenty of picks and extra rostered players they can move in trades. They don’t necessarily HAVE to move whoever they pick in the first. But in reality they probably will, so it would be better to take someone that will for sure sign and won’t mind losing.

Yeah taking the chance on Moore would take away their biggest trade chip as would not have that rookie to move or a 2nd year guy to move as you're obviously not trading Misa or Parekh

Why is nobody talking about Jake O'Brien?
He is leading the Ohl cup, leads his time with almost twice the points of his colleagues and flew in the semis against Waterloo

The Scout had him as their 10th ranked player in their February rankings, although they did have his name as Andrew O'Brien lol
