Ross Johnston is so terrible at hockey. I'm not even talking about the Carlsson thing. He's just a waste of space.

Harkins-Lundestrom-Johnston is the stuff of nightmares.

I hope Leo uses this experience as fuel for the offseason, and has a serious urge to improve his balance, flexibility and strength. That would be a silver lining to come from this game.

Has anyone offered an explanation as to why an interference penalty resulting in a clear injury was not caused a major?

Another winnable game wasted. There is no excuse for the way they play. There is a construction issue, no question. But the coaching decisions, lack of structure, and lack of growth are indefensible. Cronin has to go and I really hope Verbeek doesn't wait until the end of the season.

In addition to the coaching issue, the Ducks have two turnover machines on defense in LaCombe & Gudas while they have two forwards not pulling their weight and actively bringing their lines down with them in Killorn and Strome. I really hope Verbeek doesn't wait until the end of the season, or contract, to remove them both.

You're half correct on the turnover machine. Here's a d-man table of stats I collected on the 21st from Hockey-Reference.

Gudas is the biggest giveaway d-man on the team and worst Take-Giveaway differential. LaCombe, at that time, has the best Take-Give differential among our d-men.

Using the standard Verbeek cited during the summer, the team is hovering around .500 to start the season and that should be enough to sate Verbeek. The Ducks' GA is in the top-10 for fewest allowed. We finished 30th last season. While I don't like the product on the ice much, there are positive things for Verbeek to cling onto for sticking with Cronin. Verbeek needs to be eyeing offensive minded head coaches for next season b/c I don't see a high-end offensive system sprouting out this season on a consistent basis.
