Zubrus, Loktionov, Clowe and Brunner were bloody good tonight.

Salvador had a quiet, good game too.

Elias really needs to step up and lead this team. He is always spoken as the best forward we have, now he needs to show he can be the man when he doesn't have a Kovy or Parise dealing with the top D men.

Schneider just came off a craptastic game as well, people calling for Marty to retire already?

Guys, relax, it's 2 games. I saw lots of positives today.

I know you think Marty is better now than he was 10 years ago, but he was not good tonight. Schneider's goals weren't anywhere near as bad as the ones Marty let in tonight.

I never called for him to retire. I called for him to be the backup if he takes a while to ''Get in a groove''.

The offense will be very solid especially once Jagr gets going and Zajac and Henrique start potting a few. The defense is going to be a massive issue all year long because of the slow turds and the questionable lineup decisions. Sooner or later, Pete needs to swallow his pride regarding Fayne and play him and NOT take him out after 1 bad effort. Its at the point where Volchenkov is costing us games and that is totally unacceptable.

You know....some here are insinuating that Scott Stevens is in Pete's ear about benching Fayne and playing Volch instead.

I don't believe that for one second.....

Brunner looked great tonight, really happy to have him. Ryder was his old self, scores goals but can be a little soft sometimes. I knew that is what we were getting though so he's meeting expectations.

Jagr looks worn down, not surprising seeing as he played no pre-season games and hardly had a camp. Should have had the night off to rest really.

Volch should be benched in favor of Fayne but we all know that won't happen.

If thats whats happening then that is completely idiotic. Why Stevens would be appreciating Volch's efforts or lack there of, is beyond me?

Pete has no balls. He also is too anal about this handedness thing.

Volchenkov deserves to be riding the bus with Albany, and staying at Super 8 when on the road. **** that guy.

I swear the next person to defend that POS.

I'm not so sure.

Volchenkov has struggled both games now. The Devils dont have the talent or luxury to let a guy play through his problems.

Then again......that's assuming DeBoer has a clue what's going on, so, you're probably right.

Well, at least NJ scored in this game and thank goodness for Brunner. Every game that Volch plays is a game where I wonder why DeBoer is still coach. I don't even dislike DeBoer, but playing that fat sack of Kremlin Kone is a horrible idea, especially when you've got Fayne sitting in the stands and Gelinas waiting in the minors. Same goes for Zid. I thought he was a bad signing to begin with and he seems determined to play himself off the team.

I'm worried about Larsson getting scratched next game now, DeBoer hates this kid.
Deboer hates all the kids. And even the kids who are a little bit older like Fayne.

He has the vets on an entitlement program. I'm sure Marty will be one of them too when it's time to give Schneider more of the starts.

Brunner and Clowe are awesome.
Ryder is nice.
Jagr is really bad.

Larsson has made more bad plays than good.
Volchenkov is outrageously bad.
Salvador has quietly been very good.

I'm telling you....

Brunner and Ryder. Those two may prove to be VERY important to this team going forward this season.

Zajac is the key, he can do all the spins he wants but he has to put that **** in

Fact: All teams that started their season 0-1-1 have never made the playoffs in the history of the NHL.

See you guys at the draft party!

Whoever predicted Fayne only coming in if it's for Larsson probably nailed it. Pete switching Harrold for Larsson tonight isn't exactly a sign of confidence, though Harrold looked real solid for a good chunk of the game.

The thing that makes me most upset is wasting a fourth line with "chemistry" over players that would probably create more offense. Sucks seeing Josefson's top-notch camp rewarded with a seat in the pressbox. When you can't really count on any of your top 3 lines to create consistent offense (like a top line should), why handcuff yourself to a fourth line that's less likely to score than Olesz - Josefson - Bernier might?

Well even when Hedberg sucked 5 games straight last year, he never started Kinkaid so you're probably right about that one.

So let's see what Dumbeor has to say.

We've given up 3 goals in each game. Is he gonna say the goaltending was solid, and sit the Kremlin Kone? Or is he gonna blame the goaltending, and think everything is fine on defense?

Which one is it Pete?

That's one of the things I really do worry about this year. Marty has done so much for the organization, but at some point they need to realize that what's best for the team is for Schneider to be the guy. I love Marty to death, but it's time.

2 way street, Marty saved the defense too. Saved at least 2 sure goals tonight despite being off.

The thing is, though, as a goaltender it's always more about the ones you let in than the ones you stop.

Overall it was a pretty good game though, and a big improvement over last night. I for one see a lot of positives and am not worried about this team at all. Why so many other people around here are totally freaking out just boggles my mind - it's kind of the same feeling as being the only sober person watching a whole bunch of totally wasted people argue.
