QUOTES TO NOTE:

I think it definitely was not my best. I think I need to be better with my gap.
When you’re playing against better players, you can’t give them that much speed through the neutral zone.
That first goal, I have to be boxing guys out in the net-front, making sure Duchene doesn’t get that second chance there.
Aside from that, there were definitely some good things.
- Kevin Shattenkirk

It’s the home opener fans are jacked, we’re excited.
There’s 81 left, we have to learn from out mistakes and go back to work.
- Rick Nash

It was a good hockey game. Both teams had some good looks.
- Alain Vigneault

Let’s hope that Hank brings his A game and that the Leafs have a few defensive and goaltending lapses. The Leafs offense is formidable (at least on paper). I don’t think our defense can shut it down completely — but we also don’t want to try to exchange goals with the Leafs. It should be an interesting match!

Hope Chytil gets a better look and Hank has a confident game.

Also, 2 points would be great.

Leafs have a great forward group. But their defense is...not inspiring.

Will be a tough game, I think. Freddy is good.

Gotta wonder if Pavs starts today and Hank gets Montreal at home tomorrow.

I think this is the season TML turn into a real power in the east.

Borgman must have had a mediocre first game for them to turn to Rosen here. I suspect we'll have a run and gun affair with high offense. Should be fun.

Own the neutral zone and you’ll win this game. TML are too structured under Babcock and they’ll destroy you if you cannot transition and control the puck. Don’t chase them around the defensive zone either.

Hey everyone,

Tell me about your team this season? What are the expectations? Who is due for a breakout season? Cheers, and good luck tonight.

I would say it's formidable on ice.

We cannot run and gun with the Leafs. We will lose that battle. We need a good cycle game and get on the power play. I don't think our players are in sync yet in our own end. I see us running around a lot in this game. I think it'll be a repeat of the Jets's home opener. I was watching that game and seriously thought this is how it would play out for us. We get a ton of great looks but don't capitalize, and they eventually score.

Any other out of towner discover MSG GO recently? I discovered it last game and it was like I died and went to heaven. All of my problems solved!

He actually had a great game and so did Fehr (who is being scratched for Moore). We're also flummoxed why there was a change but Borg and Rosen did only play 40ish games each last year in Sweden so maybe they want to slowly let them get their feet wet? Who knows.

Is it confirmed that Hank is starting tonight?

Not 100% confirmed, but I imagine he would be playing. The NYR website released their "preview" for tonight's game, and he is the starter on the projected lineup.

We'll see.

The Avalanche were a fairly speedy team (who isn't these days, really lol). What does that make the Leafs? Uh, really fast.
I am hoping the Rangers can get back to a decent cycle, and get some quick breakouts with short sharp passing to exit the zone. I have a feeling Hank is going to get peppered with shots early, so I hope he can come out of the gate totally ready because to be honest, I have reservations about the rest of the team being mentally prepared in the opening minutes. But, they have often been a better road team than at home. The Leafs are playing loose and with a ton of confidence.

I've known about it since it was introduced. It didn't work all the times I tried it previously. But I just tried it, and it worked.
Must be you! Going to try it with the game tonight just to confirm that it works. If it does, I can get around NHL Network blackouts on NHL TV. Now the question is, does MSG GO do Chromecast? I don't see the Chromecast button.

Hey all, the reason for the change, as well as Moore in for Fehr, is because Babcock wants to quickly decide who the regular 6D/4C is is going to be.

A few things to look out:

-It's a road game so Chytil is going to see a lot of Matthews and Bozak. It'll be interesting to see what he's learned and how he adjusts.

-Toronto's D doesn't scare me. If the Rangers can get in the Ozone and maintain pressure they'll have a very good chance to win this thing.

-Stay out of the box. No lazy hooks or slashes. Toronto's PP is lethal.

-Andersen is another one of these above average bipolar goalies who every once in a blue moon becomes Jacques Plante. Unlike Varlamov though, he doesn't Hulk Up just by seeing a Rangers sweater so they may be able to get some ugly ones in on him, but it might be one of those "have to work hard and dirty just to get 1 or 2 passed him nights."

-Players to watch: Zuc, he loves the Leafs. Kreider, I'm expecting an A-Game one dirty goal and one laser writer on the rush goal from him tonight. Skjei, gonna make some noise.
