But you need to be aware and keep your head up

But that's my point; even you skate around with your head down it's still possible to get hit without it being in the head. Yes, if you are not aware of your surroundings you should drilled, but it shouldn't be high because there's just no need.
In this case, Chytils head was still at roughly the same level, his eyes were just looking down. He could have been hit shoulder to sternum with no issue
