I hate watching recorded games, if it wasn't the home opener I would just look at the live scores.

I'm going to try my hardest to call out. MY HARDESTTTTTTTTTTT

Watching recorded games sucks. I mean I do watch them, but I also have to know the score before watching them. If I know that the game is over, I must know the score. I appreciate the people who stay in the dark for a day or a few hours befoer they get home and then watch the game, but personally I could never do that.

5-1 loss . Parade to penalty box continues as does zero production or forecheck from newly formed Boyle Kreider line . Kidney with 2 and Neal and Gino with the rest .

Obviously a lot of rust last night, I thought the Rangers struggled with the puck last night and couldn't get a sustained forecheck going. A little out of sorts systematically but that's due to some new faces and combinations. I expect them to come out tonight and have a chip on their shoulder, but I wouldn't be surprised if the took another L.

Start with ratcheting up the physical play, limiting the giveaways and playing smarter in the neutral zone and good things will follow.

I refuse to make too many assessments regarding the lines, players and the team as a whole until they get well out of the gate here. It's obvious they'll need some games to get going and find the right roles for some of the newer players.

It wouldn't surprise me if they had a slow start this year and contrary to what a lot of the "experts" are saying, I don't think it's completely necessary to get a great start. Yeah it's a shortened season but its not 30 games.

With that said, Lets Go Rangers!

Jeffrey is being scratched for Vitale judging by the lines at the morning skate.

Last night was sloppy, but I can't see the team coming out like that during the home opener. Of course, mistakes will be made, they've been short on practice and rushed into a season. And I guarantee Torts will be testing new lines looking for some sort of synergy he can run with. I think the team saw enough of their weaknesses last night to come out and pull out the W tonight.

The Penguins looked good in the third period last night. They slowed the game down at times and made it very difficult for Philadelphia to get anything going on the powerplay. Philadelphia has just as dynamic scoring lines as the Rangers and if they come out tonight like they did yesterday, it's going to be a long game.

Predicting a 3-1 loss. Which may actually be generous. I am hoping Vokoun has a bad game.

Welcome! I think we rebound as well, this offense won't want to let Henrik down again. Going with a 2-1 OT win, goals from McDonagh, Stepan, and Malkin.

Unfortunately, I feel the majority of the board doesn't feel the same way about the Penguins.

I suggest not viewing this game day thread, especially after a call against the Rangers involving Crosby or Malkin. It's pretty ugly.

And I feel the same for Penguins. I cheered for them in 08 and 09, but now that they won, I can't cheer for them anymore. Good luck rest of the way, I have you guys as the favorites.

I have you guys as the favorites. Acquiring Rick Nash for depth players is something that every team wishes they had. And even if you guys hate us, its fun for me to read unless we lose. xD

I'm sure you'll find the feeling is pretty different around here .

Here's to a good one. Hope you guys get embarrassed, though. ;)

Yup. I can tell you that the majority of the Pens board will have respect for the Rags but hate them as well. I dont hate you guys only because I hate Philly so much. If it wasnt for Philly, you guys would be a lot more hated. :D

After yesterday's game we have a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG way to go before we're in the conversation as favorites. Unless it' for the 1st overall pick.

You can't judge based on one game. We may have won yesterday's game but after the first two periods, I wasn't too impressed and Crosby and Malkin were largely non-factors but in a shortened season, we need them more than ever before. So like I said, give it 5 games before you judge especially with the team that you have.

I do it.

Except I can't watch the game if I know the score. Recorded it last night because of work and made sure I didn't know the score. I was still into the game.

Good that we have a quick turnaround with a game tonight.

Penalties early in the first didn't allow us to get our legs, and from there we looked rusty that whole period.

Gotta create more chances tonight. Will be a tough game, but I expect the team to feed of the crowd. 4-2 win.

A lot of fans seem to be a bit down on the team after last night...
Last year's cup winners the Kings also got beat up against the Blackhawks, a similarly strong team to the Bruins. The Kings lost 5 to 2 with pretty much the exact same lineup from the playoffs minus Kopitar who was out with an injury. Im not ready to give up on the Rangers after one game....I think it sucks that there was no preseason games to help the Rangers new players get acclimated. Hopefully it won't take too long for us to get going.

the bruins played great on saturday. i think the rangers - unfortunately - just weren't ready for the game. i hate hate hate to say that. but it looked that way. i hope it was more of the bruins simply playing out-of-their-heads than it is that the rangers are that poor scoring-wise. i think the wisest thing to do is take the season in chunks. in a shortened season, that would be eight games each or so. let's make judgments after eight games.

that was a bad no goal call. ive seen worse contact and the goal would still count.

The thing is, there's no reason to worry about the 2 best players in the NHL. You know they'll have outstanding seasons. Guys in lower tiers like our star players may have off seasons. Plus they're older.
