That font is something else. Was trying to figure out why Zegras was "2" and you were calling Dostal a "Dog". "Mirty" is also a weird one.

The original intent was to use each player's signature. Some signatures you just can't reach. So you get what we had here yesterday. And I don't like it anymore than you men.

Worst Case, Ontario
Minty played 25 minutes last night. Next closest D was Fowler with 21. Killorn was by far the ice time leaders for forwards with 19.

Watching this morning, I found I had to remind myself how bad Killorn looked at the start of last year. Looked like he was in slow motion last night.

But the common sentiment around the game has always been that the young legs come flying out of the gate and then the vets get going in the dog days of the season (no pun intended). We saw that with Killorn last year and hopefully that's the case again now.

Dumolin, Leason, and Lundestrom we’re our best players last night

No disrespect to any of those guys but the ducks aren’t going to win many games if that’s the case consistently.

I know back to backs aren’t ideal but given that this Is literally game 2 of the season how fatigued could the boys actually be?

My biggest takeaway from last night was the forwards weren’t very clean offensively. That’s to be expected with new faces and new lines. We just need to be a little patient. The chemistry will come.
I think Gauthier made a lot of mistakes, largely due to the lack of experience and maybe some because of a bad decision making. Felt very much fixable, not sure if it happens tonight tho. He and Leo perhaps were also a bit impatient (inexperienced?), together with Killorn being a bit invisible, that line was meh at best.
They need to calibrate and should improve a lot soon

So call me stupid, but seeing the nicknames for this GDT written out for me is something I should have realized a lot earlier. I now have much higher expectations of Leo with linemates like that.

Game last night def was sloppy. But it gives me high hopes in some ways.

Duckie posted this on last night's game but adding it here for reference.

  • I feel that Z was, expectedly, one of the most creative guys on the ice. His individual offense stat matches the eye test. I feel he's a bit wasted on that PP2 unit. I still want him playing center as I think he can dictate play more from there, but not sure where I'd fit him in.
  • Zell made a ton of mistakes in positioning, passing, etc. That said I'm still super excited for him, he just needs more experience. His hands and skating are so nice. His stats above didn't match the eye test for me...weird.
  • Minty was looking great out there at times. I'm talking about his puck handling and skating.
  • Luneau is going to be solid for us as his experience grows, his size and mobility combination is great. I'm not super worried about his injury history at this point (but may be fooling myself).
  • I felt Cutter was fine. He's definitely not a flashy player and that line overall didn't do well but his style seems very NHL level. Killer and Leo both looked slow, I was a bit surprised with Leo on that, as he looked super fast in preseason.
  • Why is Cam's team defense stat -1 but his individual is +0.25?
  • Did Fabbri really do that poorly? Speaks loads to Z's positive metrics.
  • McT needs to do better. I'm happy though that he immediately went to Fabbri's defense, even though it was less a dangerous hit and more of a battle for position thing.
  • I liked our team toughness.
  • For being a 4th line guy for us the past year and now, I think Leason has some touches and offensive instincts that seem to be more top-6 level. Is that just me?
  • Glad we have Dumoulin. Nice steadying presence.

Something I’ve noticed over the years is the lunch pail guys look better earlier in the year than the skilled guys. Probably just has to do with them playing a simpler game, there’s less complexity that requires time to refine.

Still everyone in the top 9 is gonna have to be a lot better than last night. Zegs is the only exception.

Well if there's anything I could say about Vegas that might offer hope for a back to back win or at least a more fun game, it's that Hill has continued to look off and the summer off to recalibrate mentally and lock in didn't help him. Vegas beat Colorado in spite of Hill imo. The Ducks will still need to avoid getting stifled by Vegas' defense because direct chances are probably going to get blocked or stopped. Hill is struggling with second chance shots off of rebounds and one timers.
