I think you are really underappreciating how close Misa and Schaefer are. Maybe the islanders pick Schaefer first, and the Sharks would too, but the rest of the top 5 would probably take Misa first

We have the makings of a pretty good top 5 with Brustewicz, Morin, Bahl, Weegar and Parekh. Why go after Schafer when we need a top line fwd?

Haven’t really made any bold proclamations for any other Flames prospects in main boards other than I thought Sam Bennet would be a really good player… that one didn’t look so good for a while. We’ll see how this one goes.

It's the same problem every time. No team in a position to draft in the top tier is in a position to realistically value current NHL talent more than a top prospect. The Isles are no different.

Such teams might consider moving down a few slots in exchange for a sweetener, but not out of the top tier of the first round entirely. The Isles might trade with Chicago or San Jose or Utah, but not down to the middle or late first round. I tend to think they keep the pick and draft Schaefer. They aren't so flush with quality young D under team control that they can pass that up.

And there's no way those two are getting traded. Wolf is a Calder candidate and Parekh is a top 5 league wide prospect. That's likely the ceiling for the #1 overall pick this year. There's no true guaranteed franchise center.
