  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Can't read behind the firewall but unless the police we called, or a player admits to it, this is going to be very difficult to prove considering this was 41 years ago.
Difficult, maybe, but certainly not impossible.

The Boy Scouts and Catholic Church are two recent examples of corporate defendants who have been held accountable for crimes they enabled decades ago. Actor Danny Masterson just started serving a 30 yr prison sentence for rapes that occurred 25 years prior.

Lawyers don't like to work for free, I doubt her attorney would take on the case if he didn't believe there was enough evidence to support her claims.

So, it's a civil suit rather than a criminal case so we're talking about something based on balance of probabilities rather than beyond a reasonable doubt. The suit names the players, plus the team, the OHL and the CHL. The lawyer in the case says he's represented sexual assault victims "for decades" so yeah, he could have taken on a speculative case to burnish his profile, and he's quoted as being critical of hockey's "culture" as being a factor in this case.

Yeah, this is a high-profile case which will undoubtedly have the effect of increasing the visibility of his practice.

Personally, I’m of the opinion that his profile is only “burnished” if he’s able to secure a favorable outcome for his client.
