Welp.

Took them over 50 minutes to get going again.

Kolosov was fine tonight. I worry about his rebound control and how aggressively he comes out to challenge, but he has the fundamentals to be an NHL goaltender... I like what I see from him more than Fedotov, though they're both works in progress.

Grans played well for an NHL debut. Made some poor choices at the offensive blueline, but jumped into plays well and wasn't totally lost in the defensive zone.

Tippett and Foerster both scoring was hilarious. They were terrible today.

I wonder if Sanheim will burn out before Christmas.

Liked what I saw from Grans, some iffy plays at the blue line but that comes with the territory of learning to pick your spots in the nhl. Overall defensively sound though and I really liked his outlet passing and skating. It’s a shame we have slugs like EJ and Seeler here blocking him during our “rebuild”. He seems like the perfect candidate to give a bunch of NHL minutes and see what happens but we know this team will have him toil in the minors for 4 more years then give him away for a 6th round pick.

Really blew a chance to improve our draft, got to kick the Avs while they're down b/c they're sure to string together some wins.

Grans looked much better, people already forgetting how nondescript he was last season. Andrae is ahead in line, so is Drysdale and Zamula. Grans needs to play big minutes in LHV to refine his game and get a shot later this year. He's got the raw tools that made him an early 2nd rd pick, but needs to keep developing. Maybe he's turned the corner, maybe it's a mirage.

Farabee is playing better, that second line with Laughton and Brink has some promise.
No place for Michkov right now, Cates/Poehling/Frost. Richard/Foerster. None are good combos.

Next year probably Farabee - Luchanko - Michkov.
I think Luchanko - Michkov b/c Couts - TK have chemistry going back 7-8 season.

One thing that stood out to me (and Torts in his post-game comments) is how quick Colorado is, well, their top two lines and Makar basically. The Flyers did adjust as the game went along, they started out intimidated for the first five minutes, but eventually counterpunched.

But you can see in a game like this why Briere would be enamored with Jett, and why Richard is getting a long look. TK was the one Flyers who could skate like the top Avs players. Flyers have gotten a lot faster than 2-3 years ago, but still need more overall speed, quickness and agility.

If Briere is enamored with Jett because he wants to be like the Avs, yet didn't go with the very highly regarded dman who was available, this serves as a major mark against Briere.

Typical Torts tryhard effort. 2 goals a game ain't gonna cut it.

Maybe he can bring Deslauriers back for an offensive boost.

The last 10 minutes were fun. The previous 50, not so much.

The Avs definitely have some fast players, but they also just play fast, aggressive, and **confident** hockey.

The Flyers do none of those things. They collectively process the game slow, react slow, and play on the perimeter. But last season, they seemed to process the game quicker. What changed?

Interesting thing I just realized this morning - MacKinnon didn't become a PPG player until his 5th NHL season. Of course, the Avs teams were not great, but only one year were they truly bad (22 wins). The other seasons they were playoff bubble.

Probably a similar pathway for Michkov. He will do well and put up points, but it will probably take him 5+ years to put it all together and become the dominant player that you notice on every shift. The one who controls play.

Also Sanheim was everywhere.

And the Avs broadcast crew was absolutely awful.

I would honestly not put much stake in what team does down 0:3, if you cannot control the game yourself and wake up before putting yourself in such hole, you are not a play-off team. Colorado were nothing special in first 2 periods and Flyers did nothing with it.
