Hey wait I just saw the Michkov/TK goal and that Buffalo player actually threw a hit on Michkov behind the net 2 seconds after the puck went in. Wtf was up with that?
That was Benson. Only Buffalo player with any balls. We should trade for him.

The rest of that team never ceases to amaze how inept and soft they become every single year no matter what.

Farabee has been a disappointment this year. I wonder if he’d get unstuck with Coots and TK. I don’t like Tippett up there.

Nice to see Michkov pick up a few assists. Fedotov looked pretty decent. Still awkward but he got the job done.

Sanheim is in beast mode.

Benson made a punk play and TK checked him, not much else, this team is willing to kill for Michkov, love it tbh.

Sanheim is a legit got 15-20 #1 dman in the NHL. I knew when he played for the Hitmen he’d be an offensive force but the way he’s rounded his 2-way game is something to behold. He’s that 25 min impossible to trade for workhorse, what a player.

Looks like the Flyers are 4-0-1 since Richard was called up. He has 6 points in 5 games. He’s 27 years old but the last few years his AHL stats have been very solid. Hopefully this stretch continues for him. I always like when a long shot gets a chance and makes the most of it. It seems the Flyers haven’t had many pleasant surprises in recent memory
You just described several hundred players in the AHL. There is a reason why he is almost 28 and not an NHL regular. Over time he will go back to the norm. Also, the Flyers competition lately has been very Flyers-like....

Of course I think Sanheim should be on PP....the only issue is his toi would be nuts. But he may thrive on that. I'd like to see.

No. Very few players in the AHL have his skill package.
Richard is an exciting but flawed player, he's fast and uses that speed.
But he's an adventure on defense, so you'd want to use him in a sheltered role on a 3rd line.
Lacks the strength to be an effective forechecker on a 4th line.

The kind of guy who bounces around until he finds the right situation.

He's on a heater, don't know if it's sustainable, but he showed in the AHL he has offensive skill.

Pre-defined roles don't exist except for on badly run teams.

Quite the opposite, most players have flaws, good coaching puts players in positions where they can succeed. Very few players can excel in numerous roles.

Problem comes when you have too many flawed/limited players and you can't shelter them all, so you have to leave some exposed.

Misfit toys.

Yeah no, good teams employ maximum flexibility and that's how they adapt to everything and remain good. They don't accomplish this by saying "I have an idea of what each line will be and if a decent player doesn't fit that, oh well, he never plays so that a worse player who matches my idea will play "

You advocate for and defend that notion. It's deeply limiting. Artificially limiting yourself when a hard cap already does that too is dreadful management, and the fact that the Flyers do think this way goes a long way to explaining how they can be so bad for so long.
