DEVILS ALL THE WAY*

Is this real life?

Sure, step aside and let their best player walk right to the crease. He had to get in front of him.

You don't give him all the room he had. Volchenkov backed up around the faceoff dot when he should've stepped up... To prevent a shot.

You let someone like Ovy the time and space without making him react and he'll burn you more often then not from that exact same spot.

He has to step up AND be in his face... Just not in his face.

P.S. if Larsson would've played it the same way, I would said the same thing.

He's 1 on 1 against one of the top players in the league. He played it exactly how you're supposed to. Hedberg has to make the save.

It's more Volchenkov's fault than Hedberg.

I'm not placing all the blame on him because Ovechkin has a sneaky release, but he has to play Ovechkin's stick better. He can't allow Ovechkin to have an easy shot like that, he's got to obstruct the shot or block it.

He need neither and screened Hedberg in the process.

Volchenkov definitely could've played Ovechkin better one-on-one.

It would help if they had a consistent D on the ice instead of shuttling guys in and out all the time.

And that is on Lou to move a body. And I'm afraid they may be losing value quick as everyone looks rusty and crusty after sitting 3+ games.

idc. thats all on moose. get it outta there if your under pressure. im usually never blaming the goalie, but that was on moose.

He did not know he was under pressure and has to be told, that happens all the time on ice. They talk, talk talk because of things like this. Greene was skating around casually and looked back and then just ignored that there was a guy forechecking.

Doesn't matter anyway, Caps is the better team today and we don't deserve to win or get a point.

Marty had his own trapezoid snafus during the playoffs, but at least you know he can play the puck. Moose really can't try to be Marty, he's just gotta get the heck out of the way instead of attempting fancy puck-moving plays.

imo moose isnt that bad at playing the puck. people are just overreacting cuz we are losing

This would be a one goal game if Moose didn't lose his head for a minute there. It's the second home game against the same team for the Caps, and we won the first one. Who told you guys this team was the Blackhawks? I thought we got worse as a lineup during the offseason?

They're doing fine.

Here comes all the over-analyzing, scapegoating, and crying.

There isn't a single consistent team in this league right now, minus Chicago and maybe Boston.

Many posters here agreed with Lou hoarding D...well now the other side of that is coming home to roost these last few games. No forward depth and the D looking disjointed from playing/not playing/being in different combos.

people blaming Volch are just playing favorites.

If it were Fayne, Larsson or Greene this wouldnt be an issue haha

It usually isn't Fayne/Larsson/Greene, that's the thing  Well Larsson did make a horrendous wtf pass in the first period that he was lucky Marty made the stop on.

And if it was Salvador 'more' people would be calling for him to be put out to pasture/stripped of the C/etc.

2 4th lines.

That simple.

You can say whatever you want about the system, but the bottom 6 is atrocious and the goal scoring is drying up.
