Previously I just want us to look competent and it seems we are doing so lately. But this time I really want to win. Would be a nice win streak and they beat us at home :/
Hopefully Gibby can stand on his head but we really need to outplay them too. Hopefully it happens and results in a win.
Just this time if we are outplayed but win, I'd be happy.
Of the 8 kids/rookies on the roster, I’d say three are currently looking good (Zell, Cutter, Dostal). We need our two top centers going, and it’d be great if Mintyukov and LaCombe could figure their shit out too.
Fun game to watch last night. They looked like they played with confidence most of the game. I'd love to see that carry over into tonight, although my guess is that they'll be tired.
You don’t sit Johnston in games like this where Chicago has some beef in the lineup. Also, he’s been pretty fast the last 2 weeks or so, his shifts haven’t been bad. Good for him.

Johnston should sit for refusing to do his job last night. The Chicago beef assuredly noticed it’s perfectly fine to run our most productive player and injure another with a cheap play with exactly zero repercussions.

Chicago has a pretty shit roster and they just put Jones on IR, so this should be a good barometer game for how much effort the boys are willing to put in after a big win on a back-to-back.
There shouldn't be any such thing as a trap game for a team like ours.

Getting Gibby back was huge for the team and Dostal. Cronin literally wore Dostal down and the Chicago home game was the start of Dostal's sub-0.865 Sv% for three consecutive games until Gibby returned to the ice. Since Gibby's return, Dostal has posted 0.923 Sv% or higher in the past two games. Although Gibby's last outing looked bad on the scoresheet, three goals against were on the PK and he kept us in the game until our offense showed up.
We're 3-1-0 in our last four games. In all of our three win in this game set, the Ducks have scored 4 goals or more. Also in those wins, at least one defenseman has scored a goal, LaCombe and Zell scoring two goals each. Keep the ketchup... ranch water? flowing!
Here is a look at our set defense for the past two games due to older vet Fowler and younger vet Vaak injuries: Helleson has been paired with vet Dumo; Minty was assigned to vet Gudas; The youths LaCombe and Zell are together. Last year, LaCombe was paired with Minty due to mass injuries to the blue line and that pair looked good together for a youth pairing.
Speaking of youths, tonight should be RW Colangelo's NHL debut for the season due to McGinn's injury. Colangelo should slot in a 4RW and be reunited with his AHL center in Harkins. And maybe Colangelo can replace Killorn on the PP!
I would absolutely love to see us finally dismantling Chicago for once. Tonight should be more of a character and fatigue test rather than anything else.
Time to pluck some feathers out of the Hawks' headdress.
The last two games were good and promising but they are still far from where they need to be.
Scoring needs to continue. Ducks top producer is not even on pace for over 60 points and the 2nd place guys are like between a 40-50 point pace. Not good enough.
I hope they have enough energy to try and get another win and put up some goals at least. They seem to struggle against Chicago , so not sure what to think .
I’m hoping to get a more solid idea of what the “new system” is. It’s not defensive, they’re still playing man defense and collapsing. But they seem to be getting better at recovering flips and connecting on consecutive passes for zone exits. I can’t tell if it’s positional or what.
To me the improvement on the PP is just due to more prominent roles for Zegras and Zell. Those two guys should be the entry guys, period. No more dump-backs for Terry and Carlsson to play catch with.
