That was just a weird game. First two periods was the worst I've seen them play in years, then they wake up and take over despite a couple bad penalties. Did someone dope the water?

Michkov was awful, two bad penalties, did nothing all game except win it in overtime. Go figure.
Cates looked faster than Frost, WTF? Hmm, check edge, Cates top speed 22.43, Frost 21.76.
Ok, this is definitely weird.

Flyers have to skate to win, first two periods they were beat to every loose puck, 3rd period the reserve.

Richard must have looked at his paycheck and said I got to figure out how to stay up here, I like that extra zero.

Michkov had second most shifts with 24, yet only around 14 minutes on the ice, what is he doing there, taking 10 second shifts?

He played less than 14 minutes with less that ideal line mates and only took one penalty which was as weak as it gets

In other news, Sanheim is a beast. And the idiots in charge wanted to trade him for Krug.

Any meat-and-potatoes potential mid-6 forwards projected to go late in the first they can reach on there?

It’s a draft that is heavy at forward, especially centers. Therefore, because they are smarter than everyone else, they will buck the trend and pick the 3rd Dman to go on day one.

Can’t wait for Philly to meet the next Rasmus Ristolainen.

We have won 50% (4/8) games where we had CF% below 45%, surely this is sustainable lol

No they did not, they just sucked slightly less compared to first two periods (which were atrocious)
Yea the Flyers did just enough in 2 minutes to tie the score, Fedotov made some big stops late and in OT, and then Michkov extended Johns life expectancy. The suck continues

Shots 24-4. Is that good?

That's exactly when I stopped watching the game. Flyers were so inept with the puck.

The French broadcasters were baffled with the complete lack of coherence. I switched to the English language broadcast for the 2nd because the French guys were worse than the Flyers... probably the C or D crew. They keep the A crew for Montreal games I guess.

Pleasantly surprised to see they battled back and Michkov got the winner. He was invisible 5v5 in the two periods I saw, except for the crosscheck.

Is Richard actually making a case to stay? Who does he replace when everyone's healthy?

Outside of TK, Michkov, and Sanheim, everyone else's offense is non-existent. They struggle so much to execute simple plays on the regular. The majority of their goals come off the rush.

If all these players are struggling, it's probably not the players.

How is Rocky still here?

They were outclassed badly. Ottawa had 43 more total shot attempts over the course of the game (Flyers only had 38 shot attempts for). They were more than doubled up on expected goals. This is their second time in the last four games where they've had this bad of a performance. The first one was against Carolina, which makes sense... But if they continue to play like this, they may end up the worst team in the league...Still LOTS of hockey left to turn it around, but there's been nothing that really makes be believe that changes are coming.

Any game in which they don’t get very good to great goaltending they should get smoked.

I think Cates had one of the best games of his career so far, he actually stood out in a very positive way, he was everywhere and actually skated very well

The core problem is at center, with Couts out, Frost was the only "real" center and he's a 3C. There is something physically wrong with Frost, he's really slowed down as a skater, without speed, he really has nothing to offer.

Poehling, Laughton and Cates are 3C/4C. None are playmakers, though Cates is settling back in at center, with his added speed, he's got a future as a defensive maven/PK guy. Laughton should be a LW.

The fact that Briere hasn't gone out and spent real assets to obtain a veteran center tells you making the playoffs is not a priority.

One thing I did notice about Fedotov, he's very athletic for his size, but he really needs coaching, he over commits and loses his balance going side to side. But if he keeps improving, he could be prime trade bait this summer.

Ahh gotcha. I’ll start looking at 6’6” Dmen with all of the physical tools that haven’t put it all together yet.

The whole team needs actual coaching.

MM took 2 bad penalties is all the proof he don't watch the games LOL

TSN even said the cross check was ridiculous.
They had already called Sanheim for a cross check in front of the blue paint, which is rarely called. So players were on notice refs were calling this one tight.

Michkov has to learn "how to cheat," he extended his arms on his cross check, that often gets called, you get away with it by a quick push with the stick without extending your arms more than half way so it's not obvious you cross checked the guy. Part of a rookie's education.
