Leaf fans seem more fired up about this team than as long back as I can remember. Something's cooking. My friends in Ontario called to congratulate me last game the Rangers beat them. That's not a good sign. They think they are better.

They've beat a bunch good teams in the last 10. Will be a real test.

At the same time they are bound to come back to earth at some point. Hopefully will be against us

Stop Matthews and we have a good chance.....and no dumb penalties . Forecheck them HARD...Leaf defense throw the puck away many times...think Nemeth and Nils . 4-3 OT loss . I can accept that ...road point .

It’s a precarious position when the division is doing so well that any dropped points can be catastrophic.

Fun, but stressful
Reminds me of the recent Premier League races. 38 games and you're in trouble if you don't win 32.

I'm getting the feeling that, for whatever reason, the city of Toronto has this one circled on their calendar. I have no idea if the players feel the same as the fans, but I'm afraid our boys could get rolled tonight if they come out flat.

So is this telling me that Lundkvist does better without Nemeth than Nemeth does without Lundkvist? That would certainly defeat a certain narrative. FWIW I know Lundkvist has made some obvious blunders, because, duh, he's a rookie, but I think he's been better than given credit for.

Edit: damn, timestamped by 6 minutes.

Is that saying Lundqvist is better without Nemeth? If so that would be very interesting.
Lundkvist has only played 22 ES minutes without Nemeth but he's been way, way better in those minutes. What's telling for me is Nemeth is even worse away from Lundkvist, his possession and expected goal metrics either stay the same or go down away from him.

I personally haven't been impressed with Lundkvist from a pure eye test perspective but Nemeth has been easily our worst player this year. He's so slow and inefficient with the puck. I really thought he'd be better than this.

It's also kind of a bad combo because Nemeth is horrible at moving the puck and tbh, Lundkvist isn't particularly great at it.

Lundkvist is great on the powerplay but at even strength, he's not exactly DeAngelo or Dan Boyle. He was thought of as a defensive player prior to 19-20. People only think of him as a DeAngelo/Boyle/Yandle dynamo type of puck-mover because he's small.

In reality, he profiles more like a Shattenkirk. His offense is going to be 5v4.

I think if we win this game it proves we are for real. The Leafs are no joke. If we come out of this with a point i would be happy.
