He's 18, highly skilled, fast and has great hockey sense.

Injured now with broken wrist, has tremendous potential to be a top 6 NHL point producer.

He is better skilled than Bratt but he needs a full season in Sweden or the AHL to bulk up and work on the d zone.

Yup, I'd say he's more skilled than Bratt but less tenacious along the boards. I'm very hopeful that our Jespers will dominate in the NHL before we know it.

Reminding me of Jordan staal's rookie year where he got the 9 game look and scored like 9 goals in that time and never looked back. Ill take another 29G rookie season.

And Jordan Staal was a #2 overall pick lol, I can't remember the last time a teenager outside the first round made this kind of splash.

If Bratt stays on the RW we could be going from famine to feast at that position. Palmieri/Bratt/Stafford is no joke on the right side, with Anderson, Speers, and Bastian as potential impact prospects and some solid roleplayers like Blandisi, Noesen, and Hayes.

For real. Bratt's emergence is huge. Does he have the potential to be the top line RW we've been craving? Or could he just be another good top 6 RW ala Palmieri? I'm cautiously optimistic it's the former but time will tell.

And down the middle we have Zacha - Nico - Zajac - Henrique if he stays there - Boyle - Coleman with McLeod and Boqvist on the way. And on the left side we have Hall - MoJo - Henrique - Wood - Blandisi - JQ...We have a legit forward core now.

You know who he reminds me of? Scott Gomez + a shot + defense.

Gomez had that rare hockey sense. Unfortunately it faded after his first couple of years. But he never has Bratt’s shot and he certainly didn’t play defense like Bratt.

That’s the nice part of the past few drafts. There is depth at forward beyond Bratt and Nico for down the road. No reason not to expect NHL futures for several players still in the system, even if the projection is for bottom six slots. Im not selling McLeod or Boquist short, I expect something more for them given development time.

It seems like the patience is because he thinks out the plays quickly. He did a similar play on his breakaway assist to MoJo where he waited for the defender to drop and passed at the exact moment where the defender would never block the saucer pass.

It makes no sense where all this came from though. He's showing abilities that would easily put him as a top 10 pick. I never watched him prior to this but I think its safe to say he never played like this previously.

I remember seeing some rookie camp footage of him last year, and the skating and stick handling were definitely there. He was just a lot smaller, played more timid and his shot wasn't very good. He was far from ready then, but I remember the skill set catching my eye.

Perfect example, 2014.....

Connor Chatam over Brayden Point in the 3rd round. Ughhhhhhh........

Yup. Lou would have told Conte to use that 6th rounded on a "tough" stay-at-home defenseman who specialized as a 3rd pair, shot-blocking enforcer in juniors and had a stat line of 1-3-4-247. Lou wouldn't have wasted that pick on some undersized, fancy-pants euro!

I think we have a gem in Joey Anderson too. I think he’s going to be a good one. The future is bright my friend.

I agree on Anderson. I see him as a RW2 eventually. He looks like a great complimentary player who can function with top end guys and hold his own. That skill, like heart and brains is under valued since it isn’t very susceptible to objective measurement.

The game changed and Lou didn’t adjust. I can argue he failed to adjust as far back as the 2004 season when he had no real plan B when STEVENS retires and Nieds left. The team eventually gave away a first round pick to dump a contract. Eventually innovators are the norm and everyone catches up. Look at Bill Parcells. In 1984 he was dynamic and along with Bellicheck developed the modern 3-4 that is still used today. But by the end of his run in the NFL he still wanted to hand the ball off three times and kick a field goal in a league where good QBs can complete two of every three passes and don’t even need a consistent runnng game.

I see a little of Petr Sylora in him as well. We can have a reincarnation of Arnott (Zacha) and Patty (Nico). We shall call them the ‘A’ line part deux:D
