Kasper and Mazur are a bit similar with the grittiness but neither have his shot. I'm getting some Johan Franzen vibes from him.

I think MBN is even more physical when it comes to hitting, imo. Kasper is better defensively, as he should be when he is a center.

They specifically drafted him because they said he was just about NHL ready.

They said he was just about physically ready. He doesn't need to add lots of pounds to play. A bit work on skillset and get into a groove where he gets confidence to get through and/or around people.

He looks like he could already be a solid 30 point player on the 3rd line.

I still think his range of outcomes is somewhere between Lawson Crouse and Timo Meier. 40-60 points, bang the other team up in the corners and keeps his end clean.

Looking at the rest of the 2024 draft class in hindsight there’s only one player I waffle on as a better choice than MBN, and that’s Hage. I felt that way on draft day and think both players are great and will be solid NHLers. The question is how do you want to play as a team down the line, and I think we can say that even if MBN doesn’t have as much raw talent as Hage (who I think could be a Kyrou level talent) MBN makes the team harder to play against.

Don’t @ me with any Eiserman trash. That kid was a spare part on a gold medal winning team and got most of his points in blowouts against the lowest level teams in that tournament.

i see him as a 25-30 goal guy whos a tough son of a gun to play against. He's an absolute win were we picked him. Love the nasty he's going to bring to the big club.

I agree that his best outcome being more rangy than some want to admit. His skillset is intriguing because he seems to fall maybe closer to the skill level of a Meier than a Crouse. Teams need MBNs in the top 6, especially us. I'm done with us getting bullied around

Eiserman, and even Hage, are going to have a lot harder time putting up points at the NHL level than some want to admit. Even if Hage is a potential Kyrou, I think, dare I say, the intangibles will prove to be extra gravy for us than what a Kyrou brings (I'm actually lower on him than most)

Not to mention, MBN raised his level of play during the WHC for Norway last year and once again in the SHL this year. I value players that can elevate when the game gets tighter. Takes the load off your star players. Sam Bennett has been great for us

your hate for eiserman is amusing

It’s not really hate, but people talk about Eiserman as if he was a top 3 pick that we passed up. There’s a lot in his game to not love even if he made some small improvements. The guy has absolutely no B game to fall back to. Then factor him playing on a Lou Lamoriello team. Can you imagine how that goes when he gets to Bridgeport?

If he doesn’t hit as a top 6 goal scorer then the guy’s as useless as a pecker on the pope. And there’s A LOT in his game that can stop him from hitting. He’s still not good defensively and coaches don’t trust him, as seen in the WJC. Eiserman also doesn’t create much offense for his teammates.

If he hits, Eiserman is a 30-35 goal guy that helps your power play. If he doesn’t then you’ve got a great minor league shooter.

If MBN hits he’s a 30-35 guy that helps you everywhere. If he doesn’t hit you’ve got a physical 3rd liner capable of 35-40 points a year that can play top 6 minutes in a pinch.

Both guys have about the same percentage of hitting their top end potential. I think it’s an easy choice to make when picking who is better for your team.
