The only reason to keep him on the bench is that they finally won a game, so go for 2 on the road with the same lineup.

I’m old enough to remember watching Mike Keenan coach the 84-85 club which was loaded with rookie and 2nd year forwards. Keenan would often bench one of those kids for a few shifts or even a period or 2 but he didn’t stick guys like Zezel, Smith, Tocchet, Ron Sutter, and Craven in the press box when they made a mistake. The guys he usually sat, Hachborn, Carson & Rich Sutter simply weren’t as good as the players playing ahead of them.

Keenan had enough sense, unlike Torts, to understand that players, especially good players, learn by playing, not by sitting in the stands.

Hopefully it’s more like rest management and he’s getting the Florida road trip off. If he sits like 10 games the whole year as a break that is okay. If he sits next game that is a problem

Hard to believe a 19 year old needs five full days off for rest at this point in the season. He hasn’t played since 11/5, this is just Torts waiving his schlong around.

Yeah I’m not a fan at all and at best it looks terrible optically. Hopefully it’s just because he hasn’t played anything close to an 82 game season recently. I’m on team tank but part of me wants to see if he would be scratched again if they win

Michkov to the Flyers:

Think I’ll just keep watching Blazing Saddles on TV. Hope they get pumped, but I know how this usually ends up working.

Lets not forget how awful Mike was with goalies...

I've defended Torts plenty throughout his career and believed he wouldn't risk messing with Michkov, but here we are. This is a dangerous game of BDE that Torts (and the Flyers) are playing.

The kid is leading ALL rookies in scoring and just won Rookie of the Month in October. He's (by far) the most talented player in the entire organization. You don't healthy scratch him TWICE because he's not a perfect player at 19. If his teammates could anticipate and finish many of his incredible passes, the Flyers wouldn't be such a mess.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I believe the Flyers are the ONLY team since the lockout to draft a generational talent and healthy scratch them as a rookie. Crosby, Ovechkin, Malkin, Kane, Matthews, McDavid, Bedard, etc.

I mean, the coach and management must know that Michkov is the only reason fans give two craps about the team this year, right? Right??

Michkov scratched in back to backs is just another embarrassment for this franchise.

Tortorella's insistence to be the star attraction is the reason why he should never have been employed in the NHL after getting fired by the Rangers. He swindled three other franchises after that. I f***ing hate this asshole.

Briere and Jones are cowards.

My hunch is Michkov is in next home game against the Sharks no matter what happens tonight. If he’s not, then it’s just mouthbreather hockey logic.

Tortorella feeds the carrot to his horse and saves the stick for his players. He knows no other motivational tool.
