Why sign a guy to an 8-year, big $ deal when your team won't be contenders for likely all of it?
What purpose would Guentzel serve here? Getting them worse draft picks? They're not gonna win playoffs series' whether he's here or not.

The Karlsson trade was a means of getting out of multiple bad contracts. Not that I think we came out better for it, but that was at least the rationale.

When they got a 4 on 3 in OT and didn't even try to do the obvious thing - set-up one-timers from prime scoring positions, I just started laughing out loud. The PP has been a lot better this season for sure but this refusal to do simple things that everyone else does because you are too good for this shit is a big reason why the team is in such dire straits right now. Like getting a guy like Griz when a blind man could see that the team needed the exact opposite type of D-man. Or at least someone like Griz who is actually good at what he does.

On the bright side, we put a dent in the Isles' tanking effort and I lived to see another Geno one-timer goal on the PP.

This is up there with Eller/Oconnor to start OT instead of Sid/Geno last year when we needed a point to make the playoffs.
