@BurnEmUp
Glencross probably wouldn't waive. I'd do that deal though. And I'd rather just re-sign Westharth than wasting a pick on McLaren. I live in T.O and McLaren isn't a good fighter or a good hockey player.

@AF
So pretty much the same team, which is fine. Would like to see Wideman and Butler gone though.

@FFF
I think Tspoon is ready but defensemen I think should be spent in the minors for one more year after their ready. They have so much to worry about and develop he should spend one more year just getting more responsible and better offensively.

We are going to need to somehow spend 3-4 million. If in fact the cap does goe somewhere around 70 million we can't roll that roster with a payroll of 48 million.

When I was making the roster I had that in mind, I couldnt really think of a way to fix it.

The free agent crop is weak and I dont know who we could target on the trade market.

I guess I could have put both Hudler and Wideman back on the roster to get to that cap floor but for some reason I don't see either of them on the roster next season.

Colborne is going to get less as a RFA than Bouma and Byron?
Morris is worse than Wideman at this stage.
Trading both Wideman and Hudler is extremely unrealistic.

No more unrealistic than having Gaudreau playing his off wing on the first line in his rookie season.
It's much more unrealistic since Gaudreau has played some RW in his career.

He also has Jones on his off wing and the LH Byron on his off wing on the same line.

Up and down it's just a horrible set of ideas

I didn't put players where I believe they are going to play in the line up for next season, because that is completely up in the air because we really don't have a first, second, and third line. That is just a possible group of forwards and defense that I can picture being on the flames next season.

I'd rather give Steckel's or Thorburns' spot to Reinhart. Or sign a better FA like Downie and move D.Jones to the 4th line. And keep SOB, bury him and help us get to the floor. And just do Havlat + 2nd for Future considerations. Maybe trade Wideman for 2nd and sign an FA. But I really liked both your rosters

Making the floor is no excuse for that kind of contract for a garbage player (of course, that's my opinion of Downie). If you need $3.5M to make the floor, go out and sign a player who's worth that type of money.

Downie is 27 and a physical winger who can play top 9 or top 6. He gets between 30-40 points. That to me is a player that will get somewhere between 3 and 3.5mil. He's a right handed shot and he brings truculence. 3.5 isn't an awful contract for him.

The Capitals win for sure Hudler for Brouwer. :facepalm:

I would rather have injured Havlat with 1 year left than 3 years of Downie at 3.5.

Hudler got 54 points, Brouwer got 43. Brouwer is a righty and a big forward and younger than Hudler. Kundatek looked very good in his last two years and has been Washington's first callup. He's a big RHD that's the "Jack Of All Trades" in that he can do everything decently and something very well.

Yeah, I don't think the Brouwer/Hudler deal was lopsided against us......I suppose because I retained 50% on Hudler to gain the Caps some cap space in the deal, that they could include a draft pick of some sort.

I did the deal not because I don't like Hudler, but because we got back something I think the Flames sorely need, a big right handed top six winger, and an extremely mobile young right handed defenseman who isn't small, and who is just about ready to break into the league.

Not bad, a few things though....

1. Not a big fan of Bartkowski, he's very vanilla IMO....like Butler.
2. Don't want O'Brien back on the farm....especially at the expense of a young PMD prospect like Culkin, who you've left off.
3. I doubt Olivier Roy will be back, he's just not that good and I'm sure they will find a better back up for the AHL team and have him on an AHL deal.

I agree about Downie, he's a POS but he's going to get what you've shown there, and he brings an element we can definitely use.......like him or not.

I'm surprised nobody wants to go after Richards out of LA. We could definitely use him in our lineup and he'd eat cap for a few years. I know his term is long, but we could figure that out down the road. For next 3 years he'd be an ideal guy to have with kids coming up.

I'm gonna do a lineup later. But one thing I'll say is reinhart should definitely be in there somewhere. He's ready. Love the idea of signing mclemment, he can move up if needed and wins draws. Very much doubt wolf will be in the nhl from what I've seen.

I wouldn't go after Richards in LA until we see who we pick in the draft.

If we pick Bennett, who plays a similar game like Richards, we don't need a duplicate player.
