Johnny will be playing the whole season. He's ready.

Temper expectations no more, he played well in not only the NCAA, but his NHL debut and the world championship as well. The WC had NHL players with great talent and Johnny still played well if not better than others.

He will play a full season and get 50+ points. For those saying he's not ready, he is ready. He's been playing against people that see bigger than him his whole life, it doesn't look like it's hurting the way he plays one bit. In fact, I think he's adapted to the way the bigger people play, his hockey IQ is off the charts.

The only thing overly I'm wary of when it comes to Johnny, is that I think he might "hit a wall" at around the 50 game mark or so.

82 game grind is going to be a lot more than he's used to....especially when it's not just mostly weekend games.

Why? Look at our wing depth. It would not be at all surprising to see him make the team out of camp, assuming we don't bring a bunch of Free Agents in on wing.

Maybe because he physically isn't ready for the NHL? Yannick Weber wasn't exactly throwing all of his body on Gaudreau, and yet he was falling flat on his face. If he starts in the NHL this year I fully expect him to suffer a big injury. Let him play in the AHL.

If he's not physically ready for the NHL, he's not ready for pro hockey period. His chances of getting hurt in the AHL or equal to or even greater than in the NHL.

I think he has too much skill for the AHL and in his first game he looked really good. And we all know what he did at the WC. Of course we can't decide know. I'm sure he puts on 5-10 pounds this off-season and we have to waith until training camp to see. But if I had to decide right now I say NHL.

I still believe Reinhart is NHL ready but I'll keep him for one more year to see if Galiardi does well. My new roster because I now realize my last one was silly...

Glencross - Backlund - Downie
Baertschi - Stajan - Hudler
Gaudreau - Monahan - Colborne
Galiardi - Boyle - Bouma
McGrattan - Jones

Brodie - Giordano
Smid - McQuaid
Russell - Stralman
Jovanovski

Rämö
Johnson

I still believe in that D but my option B is

Brodie - Giordano
Smid - Orpik
Russell - McQuaid
Coliacovo

...The level of physicality will be the same if not higher in the AHL where career tough guys live out their days. Your argument is silly.

Just armchair GMd a roster and I am finding it very difficult to reach the 52 million cap floor while still giving the players who deserve a spot a spot haha. (Im sure I am missing someone)

Glencross-Backlund-Hudler
Gaudreau-Monahan-Colbourne
Baertschi-Stajan-D.Jones
Bouma- Reinhart/Granlund-McGratten
Extras: Wolf, Reinhart/Granlund

Brodie-Giordano
Wideman-Wotherspoon/FA
Smid-Russell
Extra: Butler

Ramo
FA/Ortio

Seems like a few too many rookies, I personally feel like Baertschi should get another crack at the lineup and I think Jones if he's healthy will produce well. I don't expect us to go out and sign all these free agents like some are suggesting, maybe a couple lesser FA, and I don't expect us to improve immensly from last season which is fine by me.

I'm interested to hear how Baertschi goes from second line on the Heat (after being sent down by Burke) to top line with Backlund above Glencross. If anything they'll be putting him on the third line with Stajan until they are happy with his game again, or keep him on the heat until he becomes PPG. I, unfortunately, don't see Bart on the Flames this year, unless there's an injury call-up.

Shouldnt Reinhart/Bennett/Draisaitl be in the lineup somewhere?

They should be as good if not better than Monahan last year.

I think we could have a roster like so:

Glencross-Stajan-Hudler

Byron-Backlund-Vrbata

Gaudreau-Monahan-Colborne

Bouma-Knight-McGrattan

Wolf, Van Brabant

Gio-Brodie

Russell-Smid

Wotherspoon-Butler

Ramo
Bryzgalov

Trade: Wideman (50% retained) to wherever for pick/prospect + veteran

Infuse the line-up with more youth and keep necessary veterans around. Next year we can go a little crazier with the UFA market and hockey trades.

The lines weren't really in order any of the top 9 could play first but I like Sven - Backlund - Hudler combo. He had chemistry with Hudler last year and he should be playing with a creative player and a veteran. Backlund can teach him more of a two way game.

For sure for Reinhart, maybe Draisaitl (if he works hard on conditioning and skating), definitely not for Bennett (another season to physically mature in the OHL I think would be best for his development).

With our roster stacked with so many AHL players that are capable of playing in the NHL too, I think that it would be best if any of the centers we pick play another year in juniors. Ekblad on the other hand, I think he'd crack the lineup right away.

Agreed, but at the same time one group of players have got to take the tough minutes against the oppositions top players and that ultimately defines your top line in my opinion.

I think Stajan or Backlund gets those assignments, especially for games on home ice and then letting Monahan play against easier competition. I think overall we'll see many different combos and guys getting various amounts of minutes as the season goes on.

Let's bring on the Germans.

Signed Wolf
Draft Draisaitl
Sign Greiss
Sign Goc (for 4th line position)

-Don't really have a need for Goc, but that'd be cool to acquire 4 Germans in one year.

I'd also try and trade Wideman to a team that could possibly overpay for him if we retain salary. I would like to go after a guy like Greene. Perfect top 4 defenseman that has that shut down role in him.

M. Reinhart/Baertschi- Backlund - Hudler
Gaudreau - Monahan - Colborne
Glencross- Stajan - Jones
Bouma- Goc/Boyle/Ott/Bolland - McGrattan
